People who spend too much time online actually get something called "Popcorn brain" it's where the brain requires constant stimulation. It actually changes the physical structure of your brain. It also makes it so you forget how to relate to others and lose a sense of empathy. Which makes me wonder if that's why kids now a days are such jackasses who have no social skills. Haha I also found out relating to others and understanding people's feelings is a practiced and learned skill. : o
I need to spend less time online. ;___;

While I do need constant stimulation(so many innuendos here), I don't feel like I lost my sense of empathy, nor my ability to relate to others.

Oh my God, that'd explain why I don't give a crap about anything. XD
Like, if someone tells me something I should be sympathetic towards I do some kind of dramatic performance and stuff but in all honesty I don't care. e-e
I thought I was just naturally cruel but I do spend every day on the PC. xD

To be totally honest though, I'd say it's nothing trry about. News sites are always making articles to scare you, if it's not one thing it's another. OMG YOU WILL DIE IF YOU DON'T EAT A PEAR A DAY!!!111ONE.
Might as well live life how you want to and die when the time comes. *Not intentionally promoting harmful things. xD

In all honesty though I don't really think it's a scare tactic. I think it's an article telling you if you spend 10+ hours a day on the internet it could change the physiological properties of your brain. It's not the end of the world and probably won't kill you, but it might contribute to why people tend to be the way they are.
Especially on places where people spend excessive amounts of time on the internet. Personally from what I've observed I noticed people who spend lots of time online actually tend to have less engaging personalities. I mean you can spend excessive amounts of time and still have a social life. I think this is more so for the people who don't leave their basements.
Then again we could all argue we've lost some of our capabilities for empathy just by being on this site. Because if we truly related to the people we're screwing over we probably wouldn't be doing it now would we?
(Lol and the reason I don't hack/scam/flp is morality issues. Lol)
All hail kitty pig.

I see your point. xD
I haven't been on here a lot recently though but what I can say is being on the PC makes me a very anxious and anti social person, I had anxiety attacks frequently and then I got an apprenticeship in IT Support and they forced me to do presentations in front of 30-40 people and eventually; I became confident, then my apprenticeship ended and I couldn't find a job, 3 months back on the PC and the anxiety is coming back, nice. Lulz.

Oh derp.
Don't feel like doing it since it will tell me what I already know.

I think that could actually be a good explanation as to why I personally have noticed my social anxiety go up. I think when we stop interacting with others, their reactions become less predicable. Making it more frightening to interact with them since we often tend to be afraid of what we can't foresee. Or we stop relating to them because they're not "people" anymore. Pretty crazy though. I'm such a shut in I really need to get out more. I mean humans are social creatures, it's in us to seek out social interaction. Where as the internet would be a sort of pseudo social interaction.
All hail kitty pig.

Same here. Even with the hot girls thing. D: I tend to be afraid of girls more so than men.
Make sure not to tell them how long you've been out of work.
Make up things like you've been taken commissions for graphics on the side.
Things they really can't prove you didn't do.
All hail kitty pig.

Lol it makes no seeeensseee. ;__;
Exactly. Just like I've done art commissions for like 3 - 4 years. Never had to say it was only for gaia gold. Lol
@Aleena: Are they? Probably huh. I don't know I don't relate to other women very well. I take it on a case by case basis though. People are people and are either dicks or cool regardless of gender.
All hail kitty pig.

Lol CNN has always been full of shit
- 25 Jun. 2011 12:26am #35
Same thing applies for making eye contact in the street then eh? xD
Edit; I do want to start doing art commissions but I've never actually been good at drawing things I like and/or anime characters n'ting.
Just realistic portraits of people. (When I say realistic I don't mean really good, just my level of 'realistic') xD Practice makes perfect though, got a tablet and photoshop, don't really see why I shouldn't practice, apart from being lazy.Last edited by Jorsulree; 25 Jun. 2011 at 12:29am.
