I'll probably get a lot of negative comments, hate messages, and who knows what else for even trying to pursue my idea, and LG might not be the best place to ask for this kind of help, because this is mainly a gaming site, but I have an idea for a website. No nothing to compete with LG. In fact I would need certain LG members to help me with this task. If my site ever did make it "big" I would provide free advertising for LG. I can use help from anyone who has website building knowledge, programming knowledge, site developing knowledge, anything like this. What I have planned is a big project. It would be great to get positive reinforcement from fellow LG members. I honestly don't know where else to look. If you think you may be of assistance, please let me know. I will only let TRUSTED members help me on this project. The project could have it's rewards for who ever does help. I don't know. Everything has to start off small, I understand that. But with the proper team and advertising, small things can become large.

Lol Yeah, not many people actually do all they can to put effort into their ideas. It's a thing to say "I'm going to become successful." and another thing to actually mean it. After the site is built, I'm planning on using media tools for advertising. Such as tubetoolbox or other various media marketing programs. Plus I couldn't make a site on my own if I tried. Lol Which is why i need LG members to help. Well, skilled ones anyway. The site really could provide success for anyone whrks on it.
Thanks for the luck. Will need all the luck and positive reinforcement I can get. Heh

There is only so much you can do to advertise without having to use your own income to advertise on the regular. I have tried it myself and it failed because I didn't have the ability to keep up with it. As for programmers, good luck with that. Most programmers are too busy trying to hack Minecraft or Subeta, or whatever the internet craze is these days. Finding advertisers is also a pain in the ass. Think of all of the hours someone like me spent trying to put a site together, just to have it fall apart because no one followed your links or registered, and trust me, I tried it all.
Not to mention that social sites are a dime a dozen and without a majorly different focus then what is already out there, it won't make any progress and it will fail. What would a site that was made by some kid gonna do against a site that is driven by media like Facebook or twitter? No chance in hell, unless you have a good pull.
You need:
Designers
Data bases
Dedicated servers
Programmers
Intrusion protection
Firewalls
A Host
Money for the host
Money for the designers
Money for the programmers
Money for the upgrades
Money for the advertising
Money for more programming once your original codes go haywire/out of date and can't be simply upgraded
Time to screen staff
Time to screen content
Time to write rules
Making sections
Adding new feeds
Games
Attention getters
Getting approval for content that you want allowed; i.e.: adult content, stores
Unless you know what you want the end result to be and you have all of the time in the world to sit and literally devote all day to just setting the ground work, you won't be able to make it happen. And once the ground work is done and programmed, then you have to think of all of the layering and how to get people to advertise on the site and for you. There is a trillion things that go into making a site like Facebook/Myspace/Friendster/Tagged/etc. There is also the creation of original content that you have to think about.
If I were you, I would seriously sit down and look in the mirror and ask yourself if you are willing to sacrifice all of the money and time that goes into making a social networking site.Last edited by Souleater; 22 Jun. 2011 at 06:25am.

I have plenty on time, but no money. I'm not expecting hand outs, but any help from all the things you listed would be helpful. I know my idea would succeed if I could get it up and running. I absolutely do know exactly what I want the end result to be. How it's created, laid out etc. But yeah, I have all the time in the world. Just no cash, or anyone willing to help free of charge until it becomes successful. I understand it is a seriously hard project, and I'm willing to do all I can to make it happen. I could probably manage the host fees and do advertising myself. Tubetoolbox is built to grab thousands of people and send them messages. I've seen videos go viral because of it. As for everything else, not at all. If what your saying is I need lots of cash, then I would have to wait a long time in the future, but every second is time going by for someone else to invent my plan.

That's the thing. I don't have much money. I could do all of the advertising myself. Just getting all the other requirements is the problem. I have absolutely no programming knowledge. Actually for designers, I have someone who could help. Actually two people that would help me for free. Their awesome too and are actually going to college for it. But when it comes to advertising and designers, I'm good to go.
