Ok, so first we are going to be making an account! Head to Cloud Hosting & Flexible Virtual Private Servers by ElasticHosts - Cloud Computing and select 'Free cloud hosting trial'.
Now, before we fill in our information, to make multiple accounts the best thing to do is to goto Hide My Ass! Free Proxy and Privacy Tools - Surf The Web Anonymously and make a throwaway email account This is so you can make multiple servers without going through all the shit of signing up to hotmail etc.
Just make any old email and select the expiry to whatever you want
Ok now go back to your form on Elastichosts and fill it in using the email you just created. Make sure you enter a valid phone number to receive your password. You will not get charged for the text. If you are from the UK make sure to put +44 before your number, I'm not sure about the US and other country's though. If you get a message saying they have ran out of trial accounts, just change your zone/server in the 4th section.
You will now recieve a text, and a few minutes later, an email. Make sure to note both parts down and put them in order or which it says. (Sometimes it only sends you an email for some reason).
Mine was Email as the first part, and then text, put these together and this will be your password.
It will follow the lines of (this is just random numbers I pressed ); 8fW1h7Ui
Now scroll down the Elastichosts page, and there will be a section 'Account use' under that will be 'ControlPanel' Click that.
It will then ask for your email and password. Insert your email+text put together into the password box, and then enter your throwaway email in the email box.
~Your ControlPanel Settings~
This is a very easy part Once logged in your screen will look like this;
Delete the pre-made server, copy the settings on the picture, and click 'add'
You will get a box with your server, and a box with your drive. Under the drive it will say imaging, wait until this is finished (keep clicking refesh), and then click edit on your server (not the drive).
You will now get a screen like the following; among the settings will be your 'VNC3' password, change this to whatever you want and hit configure, and then start.
It should then take you back to your control panel. Minimize this page as you need it later.
~Programs you need and how to use them~
Now we need to download a piece of software called tightvnc. We use this to control and connect to our VPS through our pc. If you cannot find the download link, LinkBucks.com - Get your share! Scan it with whatever you want, its not even my program.
Go throught the install wizard until its finished installing, open it up and it will look something like this;
You don't need to mess with any settings.
~Setting up your VPS~
Ok. Now remember that page of your control panel? Open that back up and copy the IP adress into the bar on TightVNC. And then click connect. A box will come up asking for your password. Type in your VNC3 Password you changed a while back.
Once you have done it will come up with some nerdy command prompt thing (You can close your elastichosts page now, the TightVNC will save the IP address, so you only need to remember your password, if you can, you will never have to open that control panel again.
Now I will talk you through what you have to type, otherwise it will take far too long
Ok first type 'root', then type 'passwd' to set a password, you need this to access ubuntu. When you type your password, nothing will come up, click enter, it will as you to retype, again nothing will come up, click enter and it has been set. Then follow this up with 'sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop'. It will go through some code, and then say 'Continue Y/N' press 'y' and then enter. Now wait for this install (may take a while).
Ok now start your very own server! Type in 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start' The server will now start and ask you for a username and password, type in root, and then the password you set earlier (passwd).
You will then get the Ubuntu Linux Desktop!
Now to install RSBot/Rsbuddy/NeXus/whatever else you want.
Go to the site you download your client from by opening firefox (click on the picture of the firefox browser on the top bar).
I would recommend right clicking everything and then opening, because the mouse is a bit fucked up.
Download your client (Save file), and then exit out of firefox. Go to Places -> Downloads -> and then move your file onto the desktop (drag).
Exit out of Downloads, and right click your file -> Open with other application.
If you can't find Java SE Binary, then we're gonna have to download it! Goto Applications -> Ubuntu Software Center -> Get Software -> Developer Tools -> Java -> OpenJDK Java Runtime -> Install, it will then start installing, once done exit that.
Now Right click on your client and open it with Java SE Binary, it will now open!
If it STILL doesn't open (gay VPS), then your gonna have to enable permissions This is really easy, all you have to do is right click the .jar and select Properties -> Permissions and tick the box 'Allow executing files as programs'
