I just got an nVidia GeForce GTX 460 for Christmas. I plugged it into my computer but it never detected it in the device manager. I've installed the drivers and uninstalled the previous video card's drivers (nVidia Geforce 6150SE) but still nothing. I have a an HP Pavillion a4310f with all the default components besides the video card. I seriously need help with this, that's an expensive video card and I can't let it go to waste.

The disc loads fine. It loads the nVidia installation panel thing and I've installed all of the software and drivers on the essential list.

Unplug everything, unscrew/rescrew your board in. It's possible it got unstablized. Also make sure the card is in the slot and the gard at the end clicked.
One more thing how many WATTS is your power supply?

Kai john,
your Power Supply is only 250 Watt (i looked it up from the model you put in first post) unless you upgraded thats completely not enough that's your problem bro.
nVidia "Minimum Recommended System Power (W) 450 W" this is for that card
heres a link to a good 500w powersupply this will work gread for you, it very cheap.

Upgrade your power supply. Now, obviously you have your monitor plugged into the integrated card. That's a huge no no, you're bios will assume that the card you have the monitor plugged into will be your default card. So plug the display cables into the new card and your bios will recognize it. And if that still doesn't work than it's defiantly your power supply. Make sure to do both the things I suggested, then it'll be up and going.

I'm sure it's not the power supply. I know it doesn't meet the requirements but the fan still turns. Even if my power supply does not suffice it should still detect the hardware (but not be able to do anything with it). I'll try that Thomas, I'll update how it is.

Works beautifully, got a new Corsair 600W PSU and it glows blue.
