Snowboarding season?

Soooo beings its winter...and with winter comes snow...which leads to snowboarding season...I have never been and my friend is going to take me. He tried to take me yesterday but I pulled an all night-er so I didn't go. I guess here in New York there really isn't enough snow yet to snow board. And my friend back home in California also tried going snowboarding at Lake Tahoe and even there, there wasn't enough snow...So is there enough snow yet anywhere else in the country/countries that have enough snow yet? and can you compair snowboarding to wake boarding? cuz im pretty good with wake boarding...
