Hold on I'm charging my fireball.
Brb, blizzard to counter it.
Hold on im Teleporting to Lumbridge.
Mixing those two phrases makes you sound like an idiot. -.-
Scientifically - Defiantly not.
Supernaturally (Can't think of another word for it.) - Yes, they are defiantly real.
I believe in things (of the supernatural sort) are possible, yet unlikely. (Right in the middle of the two arguments.)
Yes yes they are.

-Lvl 32 Ice Bolts your ass- Take that, Wizards of Waverly Place!
Depends on how you look at it.
Food for thought:
Alister Crowley was able to "summon" demons and cast "spells" by using what he called "magik". His process involved sacrificing and raping virgins and summoning "demons" and using the power of the mind in combination with the intense energy released during sex and orgasm. He apparently had success. As almost every country in the world banned him from its shores and based the accounts given by many of him and his doings.
But no you can't mutter shit and just have it happen you need forces to in act, mainly other worldly ones that may or may not exist.
Prayer and meditation are documented as having measurable effect in reality as a direct result of the mind and will of a person though.
