Note:
Let me first start off by mentioning this'll be a fairly long read as opposed to the standard of introductions nowadays (speaking of forums in general). If you're not into reading or you simply have a fetish for numbers, you can skip all this and proceed downwards for a briefer version of this essay ;]
---
Y'hello there!
I'm The Theomorphic Librarian, but you may simply call me Alex.
So where should I start? A life's so deep and complex, yet many struggle to even write five lines about themselves. I -on the contrary- struggle to KEEP this within five lines, but that's the way I like :]
So me being Alex, you'd want an age to stick on this name, yet truth to be said, I dislike the mentioning of ages. On the internet, a child can be regarding as an adult, whereas there are adults of 20-25 years that act like immature, irresponsible and <insert-bad-word-here>. But if you truly have a fetish for numbers, then just pick #16.
Because numbers are just a dull thing to ramble on about, I'll -instead- tell you about my past:
I was born in Ukraine; my dad had left me before my birth, leaving no indications of return. My mother remarried, this time to a Belgian chap and we moved to Belgium to continue our lives.
My mother's tongue being Russian, I was raised bilingual (that being Dutch and Russian) as well as having had a good portion of Cockney English to supplement this. The latter came from my dad, who had spend some time in London back in his youth. Due to this, I still love English up to date and plan to study in the UK for some years later.
I have always had a love-hate relationship with school: it was fun to attend classes, but boring to do homework afterwards. I felt (and still feel) like we haven't learned a lot of useful things at all... They call it 'General Education' in our country, but truth to be said, it is ANYTHING BUT general. (Tip for all you teachers: education should be stimulating - let students discover and process information themselves)
Most of my education came from the internet, as well as most entertainment. I have been browsing the web since I was merely six years old. But it wasn't until my 10th birthday that I really saw what it had to offer: I started using Adobe Flash, which got me into animation and -basic- programming. By then, I had also joined HTS (HackThisSite), a website dedicated to training hackers. This got me into my first communities, which in turn, led to forums similar to these.
Gaming also started to kick in then, so I got into a CoD4 Zombie community. I was moderator there for a brief amount of time, until drama caused it to corrupt. I've also been on some Warez boards, the most famous being 'InWarez' (called 'Crazy-Coderz' at first). Same story in a nutshell: you earn respect, people appreciate your work, the community is flourishing, you get promoted to mod, admin gets depression, drama occurs, end of site.
A sad but hard reality I had to face a numerous amount of times... Eventually, this had me lose hope in all communities, henceforth I declined to join any more.
I continued my life by spending time on art sites, writing short-stories and philosophic texts, making all sorts of GFX and developing my music skills by learning to play the piano. Later on, I got into the digital music realm, which still continues to impress me. I love downloading gigabytes (although I've about terabytes now) of sound content, like music, loops, instruments, plugins, ... As for last year, I've also been posting my creations on YouTube.
All in all, I joined this site due to some personal issues. Online -with all communities I've been in gone- I got kind of lonely and started seeking for a new place to settle. When thinking 'bout the good ol' days again, I remembered GaiaOnline and decided to pay a visit. I remembered it being a nice place where many folks used to hang out...
Now... It's not like Gaia has EVER changed... no. But I have changed; and each time I log on there again, it keeps on getting more clear to me that Gaia is mainly composed of young teenagers, around 12-15yrs old, with girls being plainly ignorant and boys like little playboys, all loving Anime and caring to get virtual dates.
Hah, but now I'm just being cynic :]
It's just, I was like that too and thus, I used to like it. But now, growing up 'n such, you start demanding more of society and the people around you: you like clever minds, joyful mouths and as extra, some pretty bodies to look at (gotta love Japs) but essentially, it's all about being able to share information in a two-way manner.
At least, that's what it's all about for me now :]
And so, I joined this site, having looked for some kind of community that seemed stable, fun and active. And -yes, of course- I'll play my part into making this place sustain forever on; even if that's too idealistic, I still like to aim for the sky.
Hence -cutting this story short- I'd like to mention I'm most deeply honoured to be here, you may call me Alex and I'm sure you'll get to know MUCH more about me as we progress along together!
(Honestly, I could write an entire biography -despite my short life- but it'd be much easier for your eyes -and my hands- to take it slowly 'n learn more about each other as time passes)
At any rate, thanks for those who've made it to the end!
You can regard this as a proof I won't be spamming the place with short comments, so you're sure of my interest!
Let's have one helluva nice time together,
Cheers,
-The Theomorphic Librarian
(aka Alex)

The very first message all newbies get here is they should post an introduction.
Here you have it, The Theomorphic Librarian -the man himself- posting his intro;
yet nobody cares to say 'hi'?
