So I'm in the lengthy process of buying a house at the moment and one of the things I've always wanted to do but never had the space to do where I am right now is to build a full size arcade machine. My plan is to buy one of those flatpack wood kits on ebay, design my own artwork for all the panels and have them vinyl printed then I'd just ram a screen and either a raspberry pi if it can handle it or a low profile computer like a acer revo in it and be set to go.
After failing to get my hands on a SNES classic I got impatient and decided to get my hands on a pi 3 and set up Retropie on it. (For those who don't know, Retropie/Emulationstation is basically an operating system designed solely for running game emulators). I've got it all set up and running now and I've got to say I'm pretty impressed with the results. I've got it running NES, SNES, Megadrive, Gameboy/Colour/Advanced and even PS1 games which I really wasn't expecting and they all run pretty smoothly other than a few exceptions here and there.
- Would you guys be interested in seeing my progress with this project going forward?
- Has anyone played around with Retropie or building an arcade machine before?
- And obviously what games should I fill it up with?

I can't say I'm familiar with the OrangePi but those gameboy kits look really cool, good luck with it!
I'll keep you posted with any updates I make, as of right now it's just being put to use as a Chrono Trigger machine.
