It is a beautiful game, the artwork is outstanding, the concept is brilliant, the experience is unforgettable, the puzzles flowed well with the engine, and I would call this a must play.
But does not have the best replayability. The map system was not the most intuitive, and the progression was very slow. It seemed to take ages to unlock anything new due to how much collecting there is to do in this game, leaving most puzzles feeling unrewarding. It's not bad that it has such an extensive collection of puzzles per se. It's a very addictive game to play, and once started, it becomes difficult to want to stop. A "just one more level" kind of game. However, whenever I am in the mood to play a game, Fez does not come to mind. My personal gaming mood isn't trk towards nothing in particular for a few hours.
In the same vein, as often as I lose track of time while playing Minecraft, I rarely find myself wanting to play it. That may be your type of game; I know Minecraft has a loyal fanbase, so many people are definitely into that genre of exploratory gaming. If so, you'll probably want trk all the way to see Fez's ending.
For people like me, this is still a must play, but with the number of indie bundles and sales it goes on, I'd recommend waiting and picking it up at a discount. The amount of content in this game is worth $10, but the amount that I managed to experience before tiring of it is worth less.
