I remember playing it a year after it came out, almost all of my friends beat it but didn't get to 100% completion.
I liked the game to be honest, it was pretty good from an almost alternate story stand point, but the fact that it altered the story of the original was too much. If they remade FFVII to include this whole story, then it would be a better "prequel" to the original.
Over-all the leveling system is too simple, and the weaponry and armor and materia fusions add a bit of change up to the mechanics, but over-all the auto tracking of the next enemy after you take one out made it too easy IMO, not to mention the random super attacks that can come out of no-where.
The side missions are what added a great challenge to the game, especially if you get through the game easy and want something to take up 20 hours of your time.
The game's New Game+ Feature was over-kill in IMO. Take all of the most powerful weapons/armor/materia/accessories to the start of the game and decimate everything 5x faster.
Favorite Part though was the LOVELESS play.Voted Hottest Male Member

I enjoyed it. I played through a few times and story-wise there were some conflicts but whatever. They hardly ever do any thing that is within a timeline so whatever. At the very least you got to explore another character.
Mechanic-wise soul is right though I typically use all PSP games to kill long car rides and atuo-repair wait times so simple, don't have to remember how to play this game stuff makes me happy.
