They recently let off a shit ton of staff members (a ton of artists and one entire dev team), they've only had around 7 million user's register in the past 4 years (a lot of them are mules), they haven't broken most user's online in about 3 years, their value is on the decline again, etc. Seems like they were hoping 10-15+ people would pay the $1000 so they could possibly keep going for a bit longer to try to fix things up. You know the huge problem with them is that they ban for selling items and all that other crap.
If they weren't such Hitlers about hacked accounts or sold items I'm sure plenty of more people would be playing.
