Logged into an account I logged into yesterday. 65535 new messages, when I clicked it, only one. Wth?

65535 is a special number in programming. It's 2 to the power of summat. It's the maximum value of certain numbers (i.e. you can't have more than that many PMs), used to store large numbers with small amounts of data. e.g. you can store all numbers from 0 to 255 with a single character, instead of using three to type out 255. For each increment you add to that, 1024, 65535, etc., you use an extra character, but three characters (or however many) is much smaller than 65535, especially when you're storing data for every Gaia account ever. It adds up.

SO! The process for reading how many PMs you got bugged up. It read the max amount possible instead of total you have. I assume it tried to read the number of PMs that everyone has in total, instead of just the user, and it maxed out at 65535.

Just tech shit that none of you probably care about.

Nice explanation... I figured it was something like that, but hadnt looked into it.
Btw, I never follow pokemon anymore, but I think I just saw one in your sig that looked like an easter island statue with a mustache.

IDK the name. Just Google'd "pokemon easter island." 'Nosepass' comes to mind, now that I think of it.

I have had this error before too, but only once. It really isn't rare, or on old accounts. When it was popular, people would take pictures and make signatures and such with the images.
