Tells me they noticed that half the userbase is under 12 :/
Disco is neat.

Also says they are trying to corrupt more parents into allowing their kids to spend real money on the site.

I dont think its equippable anymore, but they say you can sell back to the store for a profit.
Edit : Still equippable, but all tobacco items are soulbound. I can get 13k in store for my long drag.Last edited by Smithno13; 20 Nov. 2009 at 10:57pm.

I doubt that, I think gaia got sued into doing something.

i thought the same thing imeediatley and at the 12 remark the shouldnt have to remove it because of that as technically you have to be 13 years of age to play.

- 21 Nov. 2009 06:08am #15
That's ridiculous to sue them because they have cigarette items.
It's a damn web site. Get over it.
- 21 Nov. 2009 03:41pm #16
I definitely think they got sued, or threatened to be sued. :\
- 21 Nov. 2009 03:54pm #17
you can virutally control gaia if you file a report on them. xD
- 21 Nov. 2009 04:00pm #18
Thtats rlly lame tht they would do that
- 21 Nov. 2009 05:35pm #19
I just noticed that, and wanted to point it out!
I think they got sued or something big, why would they remove all the items out of the blue?
- 21 Nov. 2009 05:37pm #20
This is so ridiculous - politically correct crap - to completely remove all tobacco items is insane
- 21 Nov. 2009 07:00pm #21
That's 13 years of age without parents permission. I'm sure there's something in the legal part (or if you say under 12 when registering) that says "go get your parents and ask them."
And even if they don't, the average userbase age, even if you round the ages up, is 13. The age required to buy tobacco is 18. Marketing an 18-year-old product that is so disputed (especially by the parents) to 13-year-olds is a stupid idea. To analogize, pornography is a produce for 18-year-olds. It's the same as having "porn magazine: equippable item for your avatar to jerk off to while nobody is watching"

Obviously, most countries at the moment are aware of the health dangers associated with smoking. Gaia is just trying to advocate its 'Safe for children' image, so more parents'll spend money on digital items.
Clever plan actually

But they dont usually ban a person for being below the age
i remember 2 yrs bak(12) i entered the date as a year year younger
Posted on my pro dat i was 12 never got banned till i strted boting
- 22 Nov. 2009 07:32pm #31
I think its a bad idea, lots of people (mainly noobs) like the cig.
- 22 Nov. 2009 07:33pm #32
They probably had the common sense about children being young.

Thats stupid cause they have to 13 its not gaia's fault then its the kids fault or the parents for letting the kids go on the site.
