Ghost in the Shell

So as I'm sure you're all aware, there's a live action Ghost in the Shell movie and I'm kind of curious what you guys make of it.

When I was younger I played the Ghost in the Shell PS1 demo for about a week straight and really wanted to watch the original but it seemed impossible to find in my youth. In reality it was probably readily available I just didn't know where to look and the internet was still in it's infancy. Even to this day I've never gotten round to watching it.

About a year ago I thought that was going to change after a short lived addiction to some classic anime's that I missed out on (Mononoke, FMA and Akira if memory serves). I even downloaded a copy of it but my so called addiction faded before I got round to watching it and it's been on my watchlist ever since.

I have no doubt in my mind that this adaptation won't hold up to the original as is the case with most adaptations but what's your take on both it and the original as well as the other content.

not to go all sjw, but the movie is garbage.

GITS is a quintessentially japanese story, and it just doesn't make sense in any other context. It's about the intimate and unique relationship between japan and technology, a relationship that no other culture has.

the absolute LEAST they could have done is to actually cast a japanese actress. There are dozens to choose from that would have been perfect.

the movie is an insult.
