A sidebar with the latest posts can now be found on the homepage. You can toggle collapse/expand it by clicking the arrow to the left of the forum list.
You can change whether or not it is collapsed or expanded by default by changing the last option on your Edit Options page (User CP -> Edit Options from the navigation menu).
Leave feedback, please.
The contents of the sidebar are subject to change. Just testing out the feasibility of having a sidebar to begin with.

Cool, but takes up too much space to bother using it. It would be better to see it up near the top, like when you see a chat box up there with a stream of latest posts to the right of it and shit.

Doesn't take up much space on the Wide theme. The forum content is still readable without even causing wordwrap.

Definitely not on the right. There were CSS issues with doing that anyway, but it's aesthetically better for the forum text to be pushed towards the center of the screen than for the sidebar and main vertical focus of the page (the forum names) to be on opposite sides of the screen.
