I may have missed the memo, but someone asked about removing the Chao from under our names.
Is there a way to do that?

There's nothing now, but I'll make it a feature in the future. Doesn't seem pertinent atm.

Chaos still need to be less integrated into the site. What about the thread thing or w/e?

I think that should stay, because why not. Although I do want to use a sprite that isn't as oddly shaped. That is just the only one I had in close dimensions. One that's a much smoother, just round shape, would be better, imo. It doesn't even have to be a Chao, but I'd like it to at least keep the Chao colors. Maybe just a two-toned sphere. But I could just use a head or something too. Shit's up in the air.

It's unneeded tho. I see no point in having it. It just looks tacky; doesn't serve a real purpose.
At the very least, I think that should be optional, too.I'm lightning on my feet

Expressiveness. I don't think a softer image like a sphere would look as tacky. I do think the current shake is distracting, but again it's all I had trk with with this size. I'd love it changed, but think user-specific icons would be a good idea. You get the freedom to make something that you can't really do on other forums, and you don't really have to participate or acknowledge it if you don't want. Subtler would be better, but overall I don't see a downside to it.

I just think it doesn't really fit in general. What is it even there for? If anything, it should be optional, or not present at all.
It abandons the main scheme of this website, being a gaming forum. Not a chao game-oriented type deal. All in all, the whole Chao implementation is pretty unnecessary as is. Do you have any plans for refinement?I'm lightning on my feet

Chao are from a game. Having icons from games fits the theme perfectly. Refinement of what?
- 26 Jun. 2013 07:55am #15
Chao are from a game, obviously. Icons for what? What theme? Is the theme of this forum Chao? That's what I mean by it's too heavily integrated into the site. People barely even like them. Why in the world is your Chao, from a game, appearing as an icon in a forum post completely unrelated to Chao? It would make more sense to make that apply to 'Chao World' only. Or alternatively, it should be optional.
I mean are you going to do anything with the Chao system or leave it like it is? Are you going to keep improving it, etc. IMHO, Chao just won't bring long term success at all. It's been done too many times.I'm lightning on my feet

FYI, not grumpy or whatever. Frankly I just think most of your contributions to the forum suck.
Edit: Most of your contributions, not all. I do respect the good you've done for the forum. But I also do find it kind of funny how you always point to making suggestions for the site yet you're always adamant with what others want if it's not in your best interest.
Just stop being a bigot and do as I suggested.Last edited by The Unintelligible; 26 Jun. 2013 at 08:17am.

Obvious continual improvements. Karate/race system, more items, promotions, etc. Essentially it'll be a mini game heavily integrated to reward participation. And it's optional.
Suggestions to remove successful features won't be accepted, soz. If you want to suggest what will improve activity or the economy, I'll implement whatever people want. I added the option to hide this from posts, so chill your tits. I'll find a better icon when I find a better icon. Shit doesn't make itself, and it's not that big a deal compared to something that will impact activity.

Also, as an update, the icons now revert back to the original icon if the pet is disabled in your options.
IDK if it is fully cross-browser, 'cause I use a non-image extension for the old icon. But I think even older browsers were not shit enough to figure it out, and mine can, so... if you have like broken image boxes or something, lemme know, and I'll fix it. But this is taken care of for now.

My only gripe right now is the Chao being the default thread icon. You should make it to where the Chao icons appearing by the thread is an option but by default it should not appear on a made thread.
Also the previous idea of making Chao icons in posts exclusive to Chao World is still up in the air if you want to consider it.I'm lightning on my feet

Chao aren't the default icon is you hide them.
