Once LG is back at a viable running capacity, I suggest it gets cleaned out and apps get put back up.
Everyone reapplies, no one gets in without actually getting approved and their posts being sniped through to prevent leaking, and to stop possible admins and mods from other sites getting into the UG. It may be a new LG, but think about security for the things that should be only here, and no where else.
Only thing that might need to be added is an UG Leader to approve apps, and the power to add the accepted (if possible), or an UG leader on a higher level and mods for the UG to keep it on track, and more active.
I'm just saying that it needs to be more secure, right now, its basically easy as hell to get into, and any thing posted in there is gonna go flying out to other sites, or patched by the gaia admins or mods that have gotten in.

Yes it should be organized. There's nothing amazing in the UG Bronze right now though. Maybe once more crazier shizz gets released.

they should make it 250 post Bronze - 750 post silver - 1500 post - Gold - 2500 PLATINUM were best things are released aha
- 09 Dec. 2009 12:02am #7
Why? Because you have 252 posts?
That's like me saying they should make it 358 or whatever my post count is right now... True genius, more like asshole, attitude. Also, I say 150 non spam posts and authorized by a member who goes through their posts and views them as good or not to join. Just like it was before. (or was it 350 posts, I forget)

The set limit should be 300 posts, for Bronze, and 800 for silver, and only the handpicked should be Platinum since its like the VIP from LG 1.0. it needs to be secretive as compared to what it is now.
And let me say this i dont care how many posts you have, you should be able to get turned away no matter if you have the minimum requirement or 100000 posts. its quality, not quantity.Voted Hottest Male Member

thats because its mostly spam and shit. all they do is post continuously in the gaia online market place in the same thread 50 times per thread. ormake a store and post dozens of times that they just updated the store, or add in nothing to contribute to a conversation.
bronze is no big thing, and UG is looking more and more like a joke. give it some merit again and make it worth it.Voted Hottest Male Member

I personally don't enjoy the idea of a post-count based UG. Sure it promotes activity, but not always the kind of activity needed. Back when UG was application based was when spammers knew they'd never get UG. Personal opinion here but I say someone like Boob becomes the LG Applications Moderator with the power to promote and demote members into UG. Demote because of possible leaks during times when an admin isn't on of course.

I agree. The UG system right now is a little fucked up. There does need to be some form of security. Although, if you think about it LG is supposed to start from scratch. If we want to bring LG back up to a well respected forum we should learn from mistakes and not revert back to the old ways. Because who's to say that the apss were not a part of what made LG fall the last time.

The thing is that UG bronze won't get anything thats worth spamming into. They
will find that it was a waste of time to get into bronze, and will find out for themselves
if they are ready for the long adventure to 500 posts.
Lmao.

I totally agree with this. In the old LG, UG was so overpopulated by noobs that did no posting after they got in and just leeched the stuff off of UG. An application based system would be a lot more effective if we could get people to look through the apps and really research the person. UG has no prestige anymore.

I like the post-count based UG. On the old LG, I didn't even get into UG, even though I had a fuckload of scripts that I would have released there (crackers for all sorts of sites, FLWs, FLPs, etc.). But I never got accepted by some technicality. The post counts work fine. If UG Bronze is too easy to get into, don't post awesome shit in it. It still offers a great section to put borderline acceptable material, keeping out losers who are registering solely to steal it. It doesn't take long to get in, but at the same time, I can't tell you how many people I've seen banned before they even got in. Point being, even if they get in, there's nothing to steal, but still a place to discuss things that don't need to be spidered. e.g. "Can someone PM me [program]?" Google/other-sites/monitors won't be able to associate LG with illegal content, but it will still be happening. When you get to silver at 500 posts, there won't be anyone who doesn't deserve it. A spammer can't even get to that in a week, assuming they magically don't get caught (and they will, since most are caught before 50). In silver, if you so happen to make it, you are trustworthy and said content should be accessible to you.

Well heres the thing, people safe spam their way to UG silver, its already happened. a few people have already done it. safe spam is the key to everything on LG now. it needs to change, and fast or else we may as well be called CEF/GG/[Insert other crappy site here]. We're better than they are, so why dont we act like it.
a post requirement and auto-acceptance shouldn't happen. this sorta thing happened in LG 1.0. Then about 8 months after that stupid shit started, Apps were reinstated and the UG was getting to be exclusive like it should be. being UG should mean something, not just a little name color change for making 50 posts.
500 posts isnt that hard to get in reality. so apps would be a great way to make it a little more difficult for the people who safe spam their way to 500 or whatever the req. is.
think about it and dont base it off of LG 1.0, and think about how you want LG 2.0 to be, great like the epicness it was before, or slightly less so because the strictness is too lax on the members of the site?Voted Hottest Male Member

Gold UG does require applications. Just because UG Bronze has UG in the title doesn't mean it's the utmost UG. There is still silver for people who can trusted with said content in it and UG Gold for whoever is good enough to be in it, like the old LG. UG Bronze offers a place for people with 50 posts to post things that should require 50 posts to access. If there are things that should be invite only, this is a problem with allowing too much crap to be posted in UG Bronze, not a problem with UG itself.
@ Safe Spam, then ban 'safe spammers.' That would be a problem with moderation, not UG itself.

It shouldn't just be posts, but also PPD, because that would give incentive for people to be active, not just post once a day after achieving membership into whatever it is they were looking to get.

I disagree. PPD is what prevented me from gaining access to LG last time, and it was an epic fail technicality. I had originally registered, say, August 2007. I posted once and didn't return for a few months later. I hadn't remembered even registering. I'd tried to register, but it said my username was taken. I tried logging in just to see if it was indeed me, and it logged in successfully. From that point on, I had ~30 posts per day, none of which were spam. When I accumulated enough posts to get into UG, I was denied because, including the many months I didn't even know I had an account, my average PPD was 1 instead of the 2 minimum (or whatever it was). As a result, I would have to continue posting 30 posts a day for another month before I could be accepted, even though my PPD since I started being active was 15 times the PPD required to get in.
In short, PPD fails because it doesn't take into account the fact that there are periods of time when a user is inactive for whatever reason. Finals week, hospitalization, whatever.
It was even recommended to me by the LG staff to *create a new account* and post 30 posts a day again for another however-many-weeks to meet all the requirements, since it would be so hard to bring up the average PPD with that period of inactivity (during which I didn't know I even had an account). If that isn't the worst rule ever, I don't know what is.

ya you should secure LG

Well, i think theres been too much spam, such as stupid questions just for the post count.
Maybe bring reputation into the equation somewhere? (Yes yes, it rhymes i are pro)

They should have again the application form
The form includes
PPD, posts, active for 2 weeks and reason to be in UG
something like that
Simple is BEAUTIFUL!

Obviously we need an application system. 100-200 for UG bronze and an app seems reasonable. Others should be even harder to get into.
- 09 Dec. 2009 03:18pm #28
Lol no really that big of a deal. It's not like anyone is really active.

no. reputation is perhaps the worst thing to put back in place. all it does is create problems. it would have to be heavily monitored by the staff, almost at a constant rate. and rep doesnt really do anything anyways except give people big egos.
and having it as a requirement for UG is not very smart since you could theoretically get rep for anything imaginable, since its so hard to moderate and keep an eye on.Voted Hottest Male Member
