Respect. It is time LG learns it again.
I remember you use to at least get infracted for talking shit, and for bitching about other people inside the forum, well... that doesn't happen anymore.
No one has respect for anyone. It's getting quite old, to be honest.
Most recent example: Master's "scamming"
User is away with his fucking girlfriend, and everyone thinks he's taken the money and hit the road. Know what this reminds me of? Someone told me this, and I agreed ever since. I have a life, I remember when I didn't, like half of you bitching at everyone else, I wish I didn't have a life, lot easier to make a life online like you guys can. Just because someone has a life and can't sit here all day on this damn site, doesn't make them bad, but you all seem to think so.
Another example, bitching about admin's or other staff: They are here for you, they get the shit done, and that's all they need to do. They made the site, they keep it running, what more can you ask? Updates, who cares, the site IS STILL ON, right? Look at how much LG costs Arti, out of pocket, then bitch.
Another is how new members come in thinking they're bad ass. If we ask you something, you don't need to get offensive, if it's a member that has been here for a year, why would you argue?
Good chances are, you are trying to buy FROM THEM, so why would you not take their work, edit your post, and move on...
I love how people think that people who have been here forever, still might scam you. You know what people. If you think members like me, Google, Suske, and others that have been around as long are going to scam you, then get the fuck out. You are not being the LOGICALgamer we want here.
Respect people, most of you have either lost it, or never had it.

Respect.
- 14 Aug. 2010 06:26am #2
I love this suggestion, I managed to get a section in the rules about it, but nobody follows it. I would have no problem with this starting to get enforced. When Bman and I where mods we tried our best to cut down on the hatred that happens so often on here. But people took it the wrong way and it resulted in the thread below. It's not as bad now as it was, but the hate being thrown left and right drove many of my favorite members away.

Personally I don't think I've been disrespectful to anyone lately, and if so please tell me how so I can avoid it for the future.
The closest I said to anything was just that master should post pictures, that wasn't because I thought he was a scammer but because I thought it'd be a good way to get peole to shut up.
I agree we should be more respectful towards each other but I feel over all we're doing better than we were when the shitter was up.
At least it's what I've been noticing not including this whole issue with master.
All hail kitty pig.

I couldn't disagree more, except for the staff part. I'm not saying Master did it, I'm just saying why the fuck does everyone dismiss the validity of the report just because the allegedly scammed user is new.

I think there is more respect now then back then when we had shitter.
And the Master part he cant even get on to finish the trade and tell them that he was with his GF and to finish the trade?

You think the hate amongst members is bad?
You can only imagine what the staff think of me.Shh, I'm watching My little pony.
- 14 Aug. 2010 09:22pm #7
Agree with everything, but the last segmant because your being a total hypocrite.
Basically your saying to trust members who have been here longer, on your benefit and if they don't want to gtfo?
If I'm buying with $200 and I'm a new member the logical thing would be to use an MM.

I disagree and agree.
If a new user exhibits a higher intellect than a user who has been here for a year, I would respect them more than the old user.
Seniority is a useless ground to judge on. You can be the oldest member and still be a complete idiot.
Respecting staff is an iffy issue.
I think staff should be be susceptible to the same treatment as normal users, but that's not ever going to happen.
Staff are hard to respect when they are normal users at one point, get promoted and never post like a user again, just post serious posts, reminding users of the rules over and over on the smallest issue.
(This site is far too small for rules that firm) and then after a week of being a mod, they get bored of trying to impress everybody and become practically useless.
You can almost NEVER take a week of modwork as an example of say a month of modwork.
Everybody has a tendency to do more when they are first introduced to it.
And NOBODY should demand respect.
It doesn't matter what your position is.
How long you've been here.
What you have made for Logicalgamers.
Etc.
Respect is EARNED. Not demanded, nobody should be forced to respect any user, respect is a user's opinion on another.
Of course personal issues between a user and say a site programmer will result in the user not having any respect for the programmer but still use their programs, this is sad, but inevitable.
It is unchangeable that in a community as small as this there will be personal issues between people, and we are humans, most of us between 13 and 20. So personal relations is practically ALL we judge our respect on.
If people want respect they should try giving it and hoping they get it in return.
Also, in response to your last bit.
ANYBODY can ever go off and scam.
A user could be a member at a website for 2 years, do many decent trades, such as 200$ and such, without a problem.
And then a huge trade comes up and a user is trading 2000$ and Mr. Respected is able to go last. He decides he's done with that website and might as well get himself a nice treat on his way out, so he scams 2,000$.
Nothing is impossible, and a true LOGICAL gamer would always know that there are always risks.
Anything sells for the right price. Be that your membership and respect for 2,000.
You can post that you would never do that all you want, and there could still be doubt in the minds of people.
Trading 2,000$ with somebody they don't know personally, risking it all based on the fact you've been here x number of times.
Think of this on any scale you want, but seniority isn't a ticket to respect from everybody.Last edited by YYZ; 15 Aug. 2010 at 12:14am.

That was my point exactly that I failed to get accross . YYZ always has the best posts.
& I see more of the older members with the disrespect towards the newer than vise versa.

I think we should just face that it's never gonna go back to LG 1.0 or anything near it...
But if you want to try, do this. Even thought this was already a rule wasn't it? Or at least something along the lines of it.
Because half of the newer members are retards. Not like the regular retards, like... where's-the-search-button retards.

New users should use Middlemen, that's the best thing for them, and even then there's a risk.
New users shouldn't be scolded harshly when they break rules, because most users are here for Gaiaonline, and are 10-15 year olds who expect to get rich quick. And will either get mad and argue or get upset and not even try LG.
You can say we don't need users like that but we do, they get in the groove of things and give programmers encouragement to create programs, also increases activity we all want.
There's no way to know how a user will react to being harshly scolded, but the best method of punishment is this.
If they post a thread asking for a public program, post a response with a link to that program and tell them that programs they want can almost always be found with the search button and then give them the link to search.
Then as they do it more, just start giving them the search link, and if they don't stop THEN they are the kind of members we don't need.
We are too picky for our own good given our size.
I bring up the size of LG a lot because it is a very major factor that should influence almost all of the decisions we make to change the site.
Just because a user doesn't come in knowing everything or takes more than one time to learn doesn't give you the grounds to go off on them, that is unless you're an insecure bastard.

I couldn't agree with the OP more. In my opinion, we just need respect. You don't need to earn it. You earn people looking up to you as someone good, but everyone should at least have general politeness unless proven otherwise.

A rule instating respect towards certain members seems whore-ish and unenforceable. Simply the basic rules of respect towards all members (no flaming) should be the only thing here. Just because a member is older, been here longer, has more posts, or is a higher rank should not dictate whether or not they are a respectable figure. Respect should be earned, not forced. If respect is mandatory then it's not even respect, it's just following the rules.
But maybe this is just my opinion.
