Principal bans four-letter word — ‘meep!’
DANVERS, Mass. - Who knew "meep!" was a four-letter word?

The utterance favored by bungling lab assistant Beaker of "The Muppet Show" has been banned at Danvers High School in Massachusetts after students said it to repeatedly interrupt school.

Principal Thomas Murray says the word was part of a disruption planned using Facebook.

The Salem News reports that parents recently got an automated call about "meep!" from Murray. He warned them that students who said or displayed the word at school could be suspended.

Murray says the warning was needed because students didn't heed his "reasonable request" to stop the meeping.

Danvers High sophomore Melanie Crane says it doesn't mean anything in particular.

What a tool. I'd bitch about censorship charges. Getting them in trouble for disrupting class = okay. Getting them in trouble for saying "meep" to their friends or having it written on a shirt = censorship & fucking retarded.

Now thats crossing the line... I see a bunch of angry letters and possible lawsuits in the near future.

That's stupid.

Banning a word isn't cool, just punish them severely if they use it to purposefully disrupt class :/
#5
Wow, this really is stupid. It's not like it's going to stop students from saying it.

wow so if Facebook were to say have a Hug everyone day on Monday. I bet he would ban hugging for that one day xD

In my school, you aren't allowed to hug people, but we do it anyways. If you get caught, you get a week's detention.

People will actually stop saying it >.>

I'm personally with the principle I mean if they keep on interrupting other people who really want to learn then they should be punished.

When teachers aren't watching (which is 90% of the time), you can just say it. No one will snitch on you.

Lol, that never stops kids from doing it.
In-fact it would make people want to do it more.
#14
That's genius.
All we did was say shibby while the principals spoke at the B2S rally.
#15
Meep? LOL wth thats so stupid. It's not even a bad word haha. meep is what mouses say right? ;D
#16
Lol, that's crazy..
Banning a word is overdoing it already -.-
#17
That's so retarded.
MEEP MEEP MEEP. Go ahead, expel me! >:D
#18
Thats stupid :|
#19
instead of banning the word meep why don't you just punish kids that continue to interrupt. I mean hell everyone can just change the word to "beep" and not get i trouble for it and it would be just as irritating.
#20
I would honestly run around that school saying meep, and post up signs with just MEEP on it. Id reek havoc upon that school.
#21
You can't ban a word or its saying unless it is deemed to be "deplorable" by a court of law infringes on free speech.
#22
The word Meep...out of all the words to ban u ban one from the Muppets....a Kids show...that was dumb and a waste of time to even consider banning it...He needs to retire
#23
I don't see anything wrong with it, as long as it isn't disruptive or distracting.
#24
I think it is dumb and they should get in trouble for doing it but for saying the word they should not be punished and banned as a word.
#25
Thats just Bull shit
There issomething rong with that guy
I would keep saying it just to piss him off
#26
It may be dumb but its not censorship. If it is interrupting class then the staff has the authority to ban it
