Phobias
Phobia - anxiety disorder characterized by extreme and irrational fear of simple things or social situations.

  • What are yours, and why do you think you have them?

I.E; Things happening in the past, paranoia, etc.

  • Are there any you've had but gotten over? If so, how?

My phobias are as follow:
Helminthophobia- Fear of being infested with worms.
Cause: When I was a kid I ate a cherry off a tree, got worms.
Now maggots and parasites cause me to have anxiety attacks.

Altophobia- Fear of heights.
No clue as to why I have this. It's to the point where if I'm near the edge of a tall building or bridge, my brain and body both agree that it makes sense to jump from said place in order to reach safety.
No, I'm not suicidal. :P

Phobias I got over:

Ablutophobia- Fear of washing or bathing.
Cause: Being nearly drowned in a foster home at a young age.
How I recovered: Funny enough, my other phobia gave me OCD like tendancies,
now I can't miss a day of showering.

Dunno the scientific phobia but I cannot walk into a room with other people in there that I think are either attractive or judgmental, at least not until I've done all the scenarios and whatnot in my head first. Most likely just social anxiety.
#3
I crazy enough have a phobia of not worrying. I think that has more to do with my OCD where I feel like the world is going to end unless I do something. So I feel like I need to worry in order to not have anything bad happen. I'm trying to work on that at the moment but it's hard.
#4
Gerontophobia, the fear of growing old, but only in the context of not getting to live my life first. Not living to the fullest fits better.
Aichmophobia, fear of needles. I can deal with them now but I still hate them.
#5
Yeah, seems like it. All this stuff usually links up the past. Social anxiety I know is caused a lot of being rejected in the past by the general public and the fear of judgement I think feeds off of the situations.

I know when I was a kid it was like that. Because I wasn't like them they singled me out, and today I worry way too much about what people think of me. I think psychology and junk like this is a very interesting subject, so excuse me if I ramble D:

Coffin: Do you have any idea why you hate them?
Clover: That's the first I've heard of that one. Really interesting.
#6
Because when I was young a doctor tried to give me a shot high up on my arm and there was some scraping of bone with the needle or so I felt or have imagined and it has stuck with me.
#7
Well I guess, I was always tossed between households between mom, dad, gran, aunt and foster family but no matter how much analyzing I do of myself, I can't get passed my social anxiety D8

I used to be afraid of heights, no apparent reason. One day it just disappeared. Now I actually enjoy high places.
#9
Coffin: Yeah reading that freaked me out, so I understand.
Torian: I don't think there's a cure besides time and just throwing yourself out there and hoping for the best. Flip a coin :D
Drak: Show-off. :P

Of course I am.
Going through a lists of phobias, I realize I do dislike many of the things listed, but not being afraid of them.

Demophobia- Fear of crowds; for example.
#11
Yeah, if they just erk or bother you, they aren't phobias. An example of a phobia would be, fear of cotton balls, or armchairs, or cups. :P

The Phobia List
I used to be scared of heights, I got over it....
When I was like 15, I went to six flags, with a bunch of buddies, they wanted to ride this really tall ride.
(at this point, I was extremely scared of heights)
I didn't want to act like a pussy towards my friends, so I rode the ride....
Ever since then, I was never cared to be high, I actually quite enjoy it now.

Nyctophobia - fear of dark or night.

Yes, I'm still afraid of the dark. I can't even go into a dark room without a flash light.

No idea why I am though.
#14
Oh I forgot, I suppose I'm also a slight germaphobe.
When I have to go the hospital whether it be visiting someone or what ever, I feel so gross and like I need to wash my hands every ten minutes or so.
Then I have to take a hot shower and wash all the clothes I just wore. Lol
That only happens when I got to hospitals though.

My phobias are...

Tyrophobia - Just am, shit makes me feel weird, when i see a picture and stuff. I blame /b/
Altophobia - Always had a dream of me falling of a tall hill and waking up before hitting the ground..
Claustrophobia - Brother would torture me with suffocating me with blankets.
Nyctophobia - Just don't like dark. Feel like someone will kill me.
Demophobia - Don't like people. I prefer to be alone.

Ones I got over - None.
#16
Martin, mind me asking what tyrophobia is?

Belonephobia
Catagelophobia
Cholerophobia
#17
Heights/Rollercoasters- I shake and freak out on high places/rollercoasters. Refuse to go on them
Spiders- This doesn't need an explanation.
I'm also terrified of being stabbed, if someone has a knife on them I'll think they want to kill me.
#18
Coulrophobia- Fear of those carnival freaks called Clowns

Isolophobia- Fear of being alone, I need someone in the house or need to be an area with people. (I guess to talk to someone?)
#19
Altophobia- Fear of heights.
Why? I have no clue. It's usually mild, but depending on the setting I don't want to go anywhere near the edge of something or I feel like I might fall accidentally or someone will brush up behind me and knock me off.
I have some other random mild ones that only affect me from time to time randomly.
#20
Aeroacrophobia- Fear of open high places.
Dementophobia- Fear of insanity.
Agoraphobia- Fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places like markets. Fear of leaving a safe place.
Aichmophobia- Fear of needles or pointed objects.
Amaxophobia- Fear of riding in a car.
Androphobia- Fear of men.
Anthropophobia- Fear of people or society.
Aphenphosmphobia- Fear of being touched. (Haphephobia)
Astraphobia or Astrapophobia- Fear of thunder and lightning.(Ceraunophobia, Keraunophobia)
Ligyrophobia- Fear of loud noises.
Scotomaphobia- Fear of blindness in visual field.

Err I have a lot to fear haha. I've only kind of gotten of the fear of men. I freak out if someone touches me suddenly...its just weird. I don't like high open places, such as the abyss of hell. I think about my head going through the windshield and the steering wheel cutting right through my thoracic vertebrae while I'm driving. So I guess its a fear I've accepted because I have to deal with it daily. I don't like needles after I was bitten by a dog and had to get quite a few shots for rabies. And finally, my sight gets worse every year so I'm afraid I'll go blind one day.
#21
Acrophobia/Altophobia - I hate looking down when I am at the top of a building.
Autophobia - I REALLY hate being alone.. I don't know why but I think that someone should always have a backup

I meant trypophobia* :)

I have a fear of completing tasks, it causes me to become extremely procrastinative. Unfortunately I'm also a perfectionist.
#24
Apiphobia- Fear of bees

The little fuckers have scared the shit out of me ever since I was little.

Other than that I'm scared of absolutely nothing, I would walk up to a mass murderer, tick him off, kiss him on the nose, and then happily frolic away.
I believe that in itself is a problem.

Aracnaphobia, I'm scared shirtless of spiders. I dunno something about them. And watching all the nature shit about em. No thanks.
