SONY error..
anyone hear of the error that struck ps3's about two days ago?, everyone pannicked and there was about 30 ps3's brought to my neighbourhood gamespot and sold for 150 dollars, the error was corrected the very next day lol.

mhm, i got that...
but i didn't freak out, just waited it out.
was this the one where you have to download an update to play online... but then when you try to get online, it askes you to download another update, but the update just goes into a never ending loop?

yeah it sux.

yeah, but because you couldn't go online, you couldn't update rendering alot of games useless.

The PlayStation blog has been updated with Patrick Seybold, the senior director of corporate communications writing:

"We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally."

According to Wikipedia, other electronics such as debit card machines in shops, and phones have been affected by the "Y2K+10" or "Y2.01k" millennium bug, due to problems encoding binary numbers. Apparently even Windows Mobile has had problems this year! Apart from the obvious, of course." [PlayStation blog via Kotaku]

Maybe the Mayans had problems encoding their binary codes on their clocks and calendars as well ?

Didn't you guys get the free 5$ PSN credit? They apparently gave it to all PSN users due to the glitch.

I'm sure they'll just credit to your account.

I think the glitch only affected "fat" PS3s, so they probably wouldn't give anything to people that were unaffected.

Um, I think not. They will probably just send them out to everyone who could have been affected.

I figured it'd be possible since we can scam gaia into giving us items and actual gaia cash, maybe it'd be possible to just 'pretend' we have a PS3 that had the same problem.
