X and Y - The Birth of the Fairy type

As you all know, along with the new games X and Y new pokemon have arose. What seems to have everyone buzzing is the new "Fairy type" pokemon.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Competitively there was a need for fairies. I personally don't like it. I feel like I'm constantly dealing with type advantage in X & Y.

Fairies just destroyed the Ice Monopoly for owning dragons, like seriously, I'm severely upset.
Because I have a severe bias when it comes to my Ice-type babies. :<

Also, I never played past the first Gym in X yet so... I'm not entitled to judge, but my opinion will most likely stand.
God damn you, Fairies.

I think the fairy type is a new dynamic in battling and it shows that things will change in Pokemon even if we don't expect it.
