Besides, the earthquake in Haiti is now starting to sound like Hurricaine Katrina in the US from the way people are going on about it. Which could be taken both ways.

I'm confused. It was a bad earthquake yeah. 7.0 is really bad even here in Cali where we are used to earthquakes. Haiti had no preparation.

When I say that, I only mean how people are reacting to it, especially Obama.

The hurricane in Haiti was a horrible disaster because it's killed more than ten times as many people than Hurricane Katrina and even more devastating because it's one of the poorest countries.

Yes, I realize I need to explain more fully when I say stuff like this. If you look at some of the news, they're saying things like "it's Obama's Hurricane Katrina", and "that's why he's doing so much stuff to help" and whatnot.

Things that are justified in my head don't always makes sense to everyone else, so...eh.

I don't consider it to be Obama's Hurricane Katrina. Obama is going beyond his responsibility which only resides within the United States, and is helping people who he doesn't have to. Bush dealt badly with a natural disaster which was his responsibility to deal with. Big difference.

Didn't say that it was. Just saying that other people are. But it'll be interesting to see how this'll play out.

This is what's going to happen, as has happened with almost every real major piece of news (Climate Change Conference, Swine Flu, etc),

  1. Media attention will continue to build
  2. Some weird random scandal will come up
  3. People will forget about it
