Should I trade my iPad for this? HELP
https://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/ASUS_VivoTab_RT/

Someone on craigslist wants to trade that for an iPad.
I have a 64gb iPad 2 w/ AT&T 3G. (it's engraved with my name tho ;() The prices for either used are pretty similar. ~$380.
Does anyone have experience with that tablet or with Windows 8 (specs say RT? I don't even know what the fuck that is), in general? Would it be possible to run other programs on it? Like Stapled's Bot or any other bot for windows?

I hate my iPad and the fact that I can't keep jailbreak if I wanna update to iOS6 pisses me off. The software is so dated it makes me sick.

So Wikipedia says RT only runs apps created by windows. Fuck that then, it's just like an iPad, only more useless -_-

That's a difficult question. Windows 8 sucks, but apple sucks even more.

You should just throw the ipad in the dumpster.

I would say keep the iPad. They are better known and are more likely to hold a greater value over time.

They are better known? Doesn't speak for the iPad itself, its shit. Get the ASUS.

Although the Asus may be great, go to a random stranger and ask them if they would rather have an Asus tablet or an iPad. Film yourself doing this on the street, I would love to see how many people actually say "Asus". Apple has over-marketed their products. So much so that not the average user would know about Asus, or think that because of the iPad's publicity, it must be better.

That doesn't matter Asus has better technology, the public's opinion doesn't make the product better.

This is true but in the near future of resale it does make a value difference. If OP is seeking function beyond whatthe Ipad offers then it is an advisable move, if they're trading to try and make profit then its probably not the best move. Asus has a better product but not a better image/market presence. Assuming that their tablet is on par with their computers and such. The parts will definitely be better an way.

You're right, Asus has better technology, but like C0FFINCASE said, Apple has a better marketing image. In the case of wanting to make a profit, the public's opinion does matter.

I want to stress that only applies for a limited period. As time goes on and new ipads come out, OP's ipad will lose value quicker than Asus tablet. I wasn't paying attention to what gen OP's is and this may already be the case.

You're right with it being as well known as it is, it probably would lose more value than an Asus, say after 4 or 5 years, because of updated models. Where as the Asus is lesser-known and the average Joe wouldn't know if it is an updated model or not. They would only see it as a "Windows 8". Windows 7 had a good run of (almost) 4 years before the release of Window's 8. Given that Windows 8 is painfully awful if not using a touch screen, but it is still the updated model I guess.

Yeah, I think I'mm gonna keep the iPad. If the ASUS ran something other than RT I'd love to trade. (such as Android or Windows 8) I'm better off just selling my pad :/

I prefer to call it my pad rather than iPad.

Yeah, but you aren't selling to the average joe per say, you have to view marketable value. The asus tablet will be viewed on function by those that would buy it. The ipdad is viewed in terms of hip-ness, which relies entirely on how new it is.

I actually hate windows8 touch crap. I go straight to the desktop when I have to use it. I don't see much point to touch on computers or even tablets.

Yeah I'm just gonna buy an Asus Transformer tablet with the keyboard dock
