I don't do religion. So I have no clue what the pope actually does or why it matters.

Oh okay, but isn't that kind of stupid to put your faith into a man who claims he talks to god when your faith is supposed to be in god himself...secondhand faith...

lol, preaching to the choir. Still the Pope is supposed to be the mouth piece of God and help guide the Church on what to do about any situation and decide how doctrine is applied to new things, like technology and such.
