It is, installing windows 8 pro as we speak. You get a promo code to apply to your checkout with microsoft.

EDIT::

had to free up space on my c partition, I have my drive paritioned so when I reformat I don't loose everything and win 8 requires 20gigs free space for the install.. So I have to delete a volume, then extend c, then create the volume again because the c partition is contiguous -_- So, its taking a few to move 70 gigs of files between partitions even though it should be transfering at like 6gb/s, it's instead transfering at a whooping 8mb/s -_-

So you actually have to pay fifteen bucks and then they just give you the code? o: seems cool, but I sadly don't have fifteen bucks :C

They give you a promo code, which means you goto checkout and then apply the code on microsoft site. And ask parents. Its $15.89 with tax

Seems interesting enough, do you need to put a real email address or any of that on this site? Or just on the Microsoft website?

Screw Windows 8.

Pirate Bay < Legit Copy for $15

Also, when I heard there was a learning curve to this. No kidding! It's very different yet very similar.

Pretty sure Windows 8 Beta is just free. Dunno why anyone would buy Pro since it's a pretty shitty OS to begin with.

Beta != Pro. Also, you're just arrogant is all. You've yet to give it a fair chance and you shoot it down. With a touch interface, it is THE OS to go to, ipad and android have nothing on it because it's a true touch os with full windows capabilities as well as though a tablet would have. The Microsoft Surface Pro, will be a very intense machine even with its probable moderate specs. Elegant and simple design which can do anything your current PC can do, plus more.

EDIT::

If you go into something having a mind set previously acquired about it, and not a mind set acquired from personal experience, you will drive your previously acquired mind set into your brain and truly believe it even though you may have had a different view of it if you weren't previously mind full of it.

I know Beta isn't Pro. The OS is shit, so why would you pay for Pro when the Beta is free? The only reasons I can see anyone having it is either just to say they do or as an experimental interface to make applications for it, which doesn't require Pro.

And IDK what arrogance has to do with it. The touch interface and all is great, for a tablet OS. As a desktop or laptop or otherwise main OS, it is horrid. I think it would make a great iPad OS competitor, or even the next Windows phone, though I'm definitely satisfied with Android's capabilities.

But there is no way in Hell I'd want to be running that on my laptop.

EDIT::

I need more psychology lecturing, bro.

Eh, not going to try and argue. It's your loss in my opinion. I love the new capabilities of what windows 8 has to offer, especially with my triple screen setup. I can lots of fancy things I couldn't before. I kind of like the new 'modern' interface, though the start menu is shitty for the desktop I agree. I don't use it much but for my email, calender, things like that. Web browsing/programming/everything else I've been doing on the desktop as if you were in windows 7. Lots of keyboard shortcuts I'm digging as well.

We are sorry.
Unfortunately, based on the information you provided during the registration process you are not eligible for the upgrade offer.

Please refer to the program requirements.

What kind of info did you put in?

Just noticed I have $20 to spare. Let's get a vote going. Should I buy Windows 8 or not?

Well for $16 you can't go wrong. Just make sure to keep Windows 7 installed.

At the cost of third party loss since apps are filtered through the Microsoft store. For example, Gabe Newell of Valve has expressed how difficult it is to get Steam support on Windows 8, implying we should be surprised if we ever even do see such a thing.

lololol, You don't understand, You don't have to use the microsoft store, that is for the RT version. Which is tablets only, Windows 8 can do everything windows 7 does. I have steam installed just fine.

I haven't installed it yet(waiting to get a second hdd) but I did try the developer previews and everything I tried worked perfectly fine. I even installed it on a friends netbook and there was a huge difference in the performance.

Windows 8 is very light on performance. Microsoft made sure of that so it could run on lower end hardware AKA tablets with x86 hardware and not ARM, which is why they made RT, which is designed for ARM hardware.

Im installing windows 8 as we speak for free though and it was from that site but if you buy a new computer you get it for free.
