Context is everything. Walking up to her and asking her is sort of rude but if you conversation has provided the correct context nothing is rude. Actually if you have proven over time that subject matter "x" is normal for you and a person then you cold just walk up and ask. I say this because its basically how I got involved with current girl, we talked about sex once, talking about sex became normal, now we have sex.
