I've been in a composition class all semester. Our final assignment was to write a concept piece for sax quartet. Concept pieces are generally hard because you have to convey an idea or story through them. It was a challenge for me personally because I hate having only wind instruments because the players need to breathe.
Any way we had some saxophonist majors come play our pieces today, for a one shot sight read I was rather impressed. They slur things a little too fast, hit some wrong notes, and have to try thr bridge a few times to get a passable version but its still really good on their part.

Side note:
This is a saxophone

They come in several sizes and don't all look like that. I know its hard for some of you to understand since all you listen to is computer generated noise or people speaking in rhythem whilst rhyming poorly, but you blow in to one end and use you fingers to generate pitches arranged in a logical order to make music. Its crazy, I know.

Awesome. I like everything but soprano for some reason. As I understand it its easy to get saxophones to make noise but its incredibly difficult to get them to make good noise and play well.

I can play Careless Whisper on sax. But that's a nice piece, what was the story you were conveying? Sounds like a happy story. c:

Its actually only part of a larger thing I'm doing but yeah, this part is basically happy its supposed to detail the main character living his life with some ups and downs before a problem of some nature enters and sets events into motion that ultimately lead to more music. I'm in the beginning stages of writing a rock opera that will tell story, which I have the contours mapped to but no details. The story overlays on the astrological calander and to some degree months. This is Aquarius and Febuary which is when I decided the story starts, I think it will end in November which I also have written .
