Linux is a Open Source and Free Operating system similar to Unix.

Incorrect. Linux is a base of an operating system. The actual OS's are called linux distros. Most of them are free to download. If you search Linux Distro on google, youll get a ton of results.

Most OSs are based on Linux, including Mac's OS, mobile OSs, embedded system OSs... pretty much everything except Windows OSs, that I'm aware of.

Os x uses the Darwin kernel based off of Unix. Linux is a kernel based off of Unix. Not an operating system.
