I've heard you can take out the hard drive, format it through a computer, re-insert it and its fixed.

I know how to fix it! Get a 360, and everybody will be happy.
download the data off the ps3 to the computer then format it
this what you do. beat your weiner up against a brick wall (or any hard surface) for atleast 12 hours a day for 3 weeks and it'll be good as new

Yeah, I do leave it on over the night to download stuff sometimes.
I knew I should've got those coolers but they seemed like a waste of money at the time.

put the sleep timer on i leave mine on at night to and the sleep timer automatically shuts it down for me this way i don't over heat it while i'm sleeping
