But....you don't need a disc. You can unpack the ISO and install from there. I've done it before.

If you are installing it on a Vm then sure. But if you are installing it as your main os you need to burn it to physical media like a DVD of flash drive.

Ah, okay. I was thinking about getting a Sony VAIO, and then dualbotting shit on it. Though I was gonna dual boot on a VM, like VMWare or some shit. Rather than shell out cash for a MacBook and dualboot Snow Leopard + Linux, I'm just gonna get a VAIO and dual boot Windows 7 and LInux.

Get a macbook off of ebay. Trust me it is worth it! Apple hardware is solid. My iBook G4 from 2005 is still in perfect working condition.

Since when can you unpack and installation disc usefully? :shrug:

I'm pretty sure OS installers have to run at startup [thus via disc].

Also, it's way better to do it off a disc anyway. That way you'll always have it, and it won't take up any HDD.
