Flyer
So pretend fo a minute that you cared about live music. If you saw this flyer and lived near by would you check out the band?



I tend to do flyers like this for my own band but recently people started asking me to do them for their bands/shows and I want to make things that catch people's attention but still stay true to what I've been doing. Obviosuly it's not groundbreaking to doctor up soviet propaganda but I like it.

The font is really cool, but looking at the flyer I have no clue what kind of band it is.
It looks like a workers singing group in some factory

Do you typically know what a band is going to be like from looking at a flyer?
Technically they are a folk band but I don't want to pigeon hole them by having banjos and stuff everywhere.

are examples of some flyers that are easier to tell what kind of music they make.
I'm not saying those are good flyers though.
I can see how this represents folk now though, that you've stated it.

What about that tells you what kind of music will be played?

Mostly the pictures, like if I see a woman holding a big loaf of bread than I'm not sure what the genre could be.
But with the "thieves in exil" flyer I can tell they're hard rock because of the imagery and font style.

Honestly though my opinion changed after you told me it was folk music, and I can totally see it now.

I can kind of see that.

That's kind of my thought as well i used a farmer/rural situation to sort of convey folk.
Sidenote: drummer is formerly part of a regionally successful trash metal band and why I'm doing their flyer.
