Experimentation

New style that I wanted to try. Looks alright to me except for the shitty text, still need to work on that.

Need to work on text... still... not really anything new to this, just haven't made any graphics in a long time and thought I'd post the first one I started with after a couple months.

Made by request. I had to render this from his screenshots. I think I did fine on the rendering but I fucked up the background.

Dude, Halo no. But otherwise there bad ass. :)

Nice reply time. I like that Halo render because of the high detail of the model. Reach is shit.

Thanks brosky.
#4
I like the 1st and third one
Really well done temtii

Those are nice, but I agree with you about the fonts. There's tons of fonts available online for free (and some that aren't). I'd spend an afternoon or two looking for font packs or something. I can't think of any specifics except Helvetica because I've got way too many fonts to remember, lol.

I'm not a fan of using all of those fancy fonts. I'm trying to find a way to make stock fonts look good. Arial, Eurostile, Times New Roman, these were the ones I was experimenting with.

tbh, I like the font in the first one. The one that's bad is the render and not the font xD
Second one has nice colors and effects to it, but I'd really suggest not using fonts for now, since they can reaaaaaaallyyyyyyy ruin sigs unless you've mastered them.
#8
i think the last one blends ok, otherwise there pretty nice.
cept the first ones rly plain imo
#9
First one is really plain, and there are lines on top and bottom of the render that bug me, don't know if you did that on purpose or not.

The text in the second is really good, but i'm not a fan of the colors.

in the third, i can't tell if you fucked up the background or not because the render takes up way too much space.

Any serif font is generally a bad idea.
They're not 'fancy' fonts, either, they're industry standards.

Look at this. It uses serif fonts and looks great. You just need to know how to use it, as I'm trying to do.

that shit was terrible. way too much going on, just because you have a billion cool effects in a picture doesn't make it good. Graphic design isn't about adding special effects, it's about balancing design, art, and colors.

I was looking at the text in it, not the signature itself...

Hey, man, I interned at a web design firm. You just don't use serif fonts. That doesn't look too good, either.

This.

...aaaand there's your problem. Even if you do that (which you shouldn't be doing), you've got some very plain-looking text that does nothing for the viewer... or the image.

To be brutally honest, you need to work on the basic aspects of a good signature.

Although these signatures show understanding of those, you still need to work on depth, lighting, blending, and flow*. All three of these seem to lack a proper "wow" factor too, they're quite bland. Look up tutorials, view PSDs, and learn new techniques!

*The last one especially is fairly sloppy.

Keep on keepin' on though!

Yeah, the last one is complete shit. I'll be looking up more tutorials when I have time.

Minora was talking about the image I linked to, not my image... I hope.

Show me what kind of font you think I should use.
