A lot of native american's are trying to get genetically modified wild rice banned from selling and/or producing because they say it's "sacred" to them.
What's your opinion on this?
Also on other GMO's if you want to talk about that.
Yes this is something I'm working on at school, but I need to know more opinions for a seminar we're going to have.

I see no real harm with GMOs use. The way they are handled is rather idiotic. Basically a corporation sponsors the genetic modification and when they have a viable strain they copy right it and give it genetic markers. Then they just do random tests all over the world to see if their stain is growing on someone's property and sue them. I understand how you an copyright a strain and seek to protect it since it's a product you developed, but it's also corn. It seems like it should be handled more like the polio vaccine,as in "Hey, we made corn super resistant to all those things that normally ruin corn crops. So now no more corn shortages and because the people that grow corn funded this they'll make more money from corn so they don't need to be dicks about it."

About the wild rice, researches are trying to find a way to make the rice grains more hardy and to stay on the plant because almost half of the grains fall off before harvesting.

Mostly, I oppose the fact that their genetic sequences can be patented. But whatever.
