Abortion?

Since the recent debate on contraception was brought up once again in America, I was wondering what LG's thoughts on abortion are.

Should abortion be a given right?
Do situations of rape or incest make it different?
Does contraception=abortion?
Is "every sperm sacred"?
If abortion is wrong, should the doctors be punished?
How does your faith/beliefs fit in with your ideas on abortion?
Should abortion be left up for states to decide, or the country?

I know, I know, this was probably brought up before, but I wanted to revisit the topic. Especially since I'm voting in the Republic primaries, general election, ect. and wanted some more insight. :EmoteUMad:

Should abortion be a right? No, something that isn't purposefully needed to protect freedom should never be made a right. Should freedom be protected? Absolutely. If you want to have an abortion, you should be free to do so. The goverment does not have the right to stop you. Personally I think it's wrong to have an abortion but its not the government's place to say that.
I don't think situation matters.
Contraception does not equal abortion to the Catholic church so if it does for someone else hen that's pretty fucked up.
Sperm isn't a person its a genetic packet. Literally half a human being, so no.
No, but at the same time no one should be able to force a doctor to preform an abortion.

It should be left to the individual.
Individuals should be evaluated holistically. No one issue should be make or break. Party loyalties are idioticand only contribute to the broken electoral system. I'm glad you're trying to be educated but you'd do better to do research yourself than ask opinions.

Yeah research can be tricky on a topic like this. Most experts agree scientifically that there is nothing really wrong with abortion in general. Not to say that I haven't gotten research already on my own, just that I've reached the stage where only the moral argument can come into play. And with me being a Christian of 14 years/atheist of 5 my morals can conflict on certain occasions. So..that's why I asked here :D

I mean if were raped I wouldn't really want to be forced into having a baby im in noway shape or form ready to have. Everyone should have the option if needed.

Granted it may be cruel but its its not wrong, and its not the doctor that decided to end the woman's pregnancy.

I believe if you want an abortion then its you're choice no one else's.

it should be left up to the person not what the government wants.

Paul, sort of. His foriegn policy is idiotic. The US is currently the most powerful nation in the world. Its situated at the center of the world stage, the world literally stops working if we do what Paul wants to do. Eventually other nations would step in to take up the slack but the US then loses power and others gain it. The only reason our society functions though is because the US gets to have things the way it wants mostly because it makes the world run. So complete withdrawl from global affairs can't work. Plus I want to recommit to Iraq and Afganistan. They're going to beg us to come back any way(the goverments at least).

Morally speaking I can't atest to if you go to hell for abortion or even that there is a hell but I can tell you that we cold have cured aid and cancer like fifty times by now if we had kiled the people that were going to do so. Sperm or eggs are half of a person possible. Together they are a person in my opinion. Even if you're not in a situation to take care of a child there are organizations that will take the child. Their life might not be great but no one is qualified to say it should go unlived. That's like me waking up one day and killing you because I think your life sucks.

On foreign policy I could agree with you on stepping away from all conflicts. I think even as libertarian and pacifist as Paul is, he would not be comfortable from withdrawing from everything we've gotten ourselves into. Though I think we need to stop for a second and think about our role as "world police." You talked about how the only way our society is running is because we can control everything, and I don't believe that is necessarily true. Just because our troops are not hanging out in bunkers in some country far away, doesn't mean we can't function in the world economy. China has been keeping an isolationist view for the past 10-15 years and are now expected to be the next super power. You might wonder why terrorist would attack a great country like America, yet you want to resend hundreds of thousands of troops to reoccupy where these terrorist live and possibly lead to another civilian casualty disaster. Seems quite tiring after a while, and even more exhausting on out debt/budget. If you think our country can afford another war and come out on top (Without trying to compare now to the The Depression/World War 2 situation.) then you haven't payed attention enough.

Well to get back on point, I think I'd be more likely to agree with you on abortion Coffin. Aside from the moral debate, I think we can see eye to eye on the fact that every woman should have the choice, but adoption is always the better option.

I'm not gonna answer your questions, just state my opinion.
It should be up to each person individually, and people shouldnt get so butthurt about it.
However, it should NOT be used as a constant plan-B.
My ex once told me "I know if I got pregnant, you'd want to be a good father and take care of it, but I would have to focus on my schooling... I'd probably get an abortion."
