I am willing to tutor over IM anyone who is looking into web programming. I can't teach from scratch, but I can explain a concept more thoroughly for anyone following a guide elsewhere (a college course, or even just independent research from online tutorials) has a question about what they read.

I can tutor beginners, but I'm not going to be the entire tutorial, no. You can find adequate tutorials covering basic concepts in one of ten billion different websites designed to do it. These websites differ based on quality beyond basics, which I can supplement. But I don't have the time to teach every concept to everyone wanting to learn.Quote:

I would try to explain it to you, but I don't think you are even going into web programming anyway.
As TU said, experience is a huge part of it. If you aren't actively building documents, you can't see DOM in action to understand the concepts of it. It's like explaining the color red. If you see red existing, then I can point to it.
But yes, that is the kind of thing I would be willing to help with. I know most people going into JavaScript will need to know it, and given the quality of the vast majority of HTML and JavaScript tutorials on the planet, they won't understand an ounce of DOM.
I would like to expand my knowledge on HTML some. And that requires CSS for the most part. I might Pm you later for this. Thanks again for this offer.Quote:

Just because I don't plan on going into web programming as a job means I can't learn it?
I use 90% of what I learn in life for fun and entertainment, and because it intrigues me. Take Machine Learning, Genetic Algorithms, and Linear Algebra for example. I want to learn all of it because it interests me, but will I get a job doing any of it? I might, but it's not specifically what I want to get a job in.
You don't have to use it for a job. I'm not going into web dev for a job. But you do need to, well, use it.

You should make some web tutorial videos outlining some basic topics, and then try to outline some more advanced topics like DOM or maybe JavaScript or something like that. It could be extremely helpful, allowing users to go at their own pace too.Quote:

The same as any tutorial teaches it. Except I'm a live person and another tutorial does not interact with you or answer questions you ask it.
I'm not by any means trying to write off the usefulness of having a live tutor though. If I was in the process of learning web development and had any questions I'd go to GAMEchief. Seems like he knows what he's doing.Quote:
