Practice .
Floater or screw in?
I just need the general tactic, so i have something to practice.
Do you know any thing about guitar?
I've been playing for a year, so i have a loose understanding.
Forget it.
Alright Whammy bar does the same thing bending a string does, changes the note you're playing. It can take you up or down, while bending only goes up.Place your finger on the fifth fret on the think E. This is A. Pluck the note. Now, place a finger on the 7th fret. This is B. You hear the difference? Now play A and pull up on the whammy bar. The note changes. You want to pull till A turns to B. If you press down on the bar you can drop a note down to G.
You can hear a good example on "Iron Man" The first thing you hear is an open E string(thick one being wammied down).
You get a similar effect by bending the neck....don't do this unless some one showes you how or you'll mess up the guitar.
There some techniques that you can do with a bar that are pretty cool. You can hear examples in "eruption" by Van Halen, "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Twisted Sister, and any Quiet Riot song.
Chat would work better for this. Do you have MSN or Skype(which would be best since then I cna hear what you're doing)
I have MSN, no skype. No mic for skype anyway

Not really sure what else to tell you. I mean, the concept is you alter the note your fretting to be higher or lower. Pulling the bar away from guitar goes up, pushing towards guitar goes down. Everything from there is just gravy. Practice and it'll come to you.
Words of caution: You can break the bar. Its a bitch to then remove the broken part and you have to get a new one. Using a whammy bar will detune your strings.
Didn't see the part of your first post, it's a floater.
Dude, fun. I want one of those. I've only ever used the fender screw in.
Its the same concept for them all, just listen to the song examples I gave you and you'll know what to do pretty quick.
Just don't do like guitar hero and wiggle it and think that's how you use it.
You can do that and get a good sound with practice but its more dynamic.
I may be a Guitar Hero junkie, but i'm not dumb, i used to watch a lot of live Satch shows, and learned what i know from there.
My guitar is an Ibanez RG270-DX. It's pretty bad ass.
Satch is master of that thing. His whammy is special though.
Ibanezs are good. I've never actually played on though. But they seem to be the thing for modern artist.
I love Ibanez.
I basically sit in the Ibanez section of my local guitar store, playing with them all day.
Never heard of Schecter.
I like the Ibanez because they just seem to slide easier. I've played a few where it was near impossible to slide, which basically screwed over most satch songs i had learned.
Look them up, very new, very cool. Feel ok in the hand.
Yeah you have to find a guitar that feels right. my V has the notches on the frets sanded down and I took the edges off.
You might want to look at gibson's fretless wonder. Interesting sound and you can slide very easily. SGs are usually good for sliding.
I've not even attempted to learn a Satch song. I just assume he's master of shred and I'd best not touch.
I learned the intro to If I Could Fly, and some of the start of the solo (the part that Coldplay ripped in the chorus of Viva La Vida). I also learned bits and pieces of other songs outside of his ridiculous solos.
Not the whole, there are few pieces playable by normal humans.
I Like The Rain isn't TOOO insane.
My favorite CD is Dreaming #11.
Every song on there is just stellar. I wish I could play some of it.
Its a live performance from the 80s and is overlooked by every one.
My favorite is Is There Love In Space?.
It's just an awesome CD, lots of weird techniques and sounds
Surfing With An Alien and Strange Beautiful Music are my other two.
The Extremist is one I enjoy too. I didn't care for his latest cd though.
His latest CD seemed a little off to me.
I love all his G3 stuff.
Yeah. I've seen those vids. Great stuff.
I'm listening to Dreaming #11 right now, i just started Memories.
Good stuff. The first track is my favorite.
Mhm, it's really good stuff. I have his entire discography, but haven't listened to all of it.
Satch has a very unique style, which is why i love him.
Satch taught Eddie and good deal of other famous people to play.
