You need real job experience first of all..
you also need a portfolio (good luck on a real career based on only a port tho ) or you need a degree.
Just because you say you know a language or two and post some sample code doesn't mean you're going to get a good job.
you can get hired for side shit though, I did that for a while before getting my degree but it's not a real job, there's no contracts or benefits or anything and it will hardly count as real job experience.
Everyone knows a language or two. You need a degree proving it or a portfolio proving it. 90% of people who know a language suck ass at it and aren't worth paying. And yes you have to program in that language if they say they want to hire someone who knows that language. That's why they want you to know it.
