Basic learning + whats up guys?

So, I'm attempting to make a program that can learn basic notions of good and bad.

I know it's impossible to truly give it feelings, but it's going to be like "Is killing a ____ bad?" and then you press 1 for really good, 2 for kind of good, 3 for bad, and 4 for very bad.

Then after that, it will go "So, killing a ____ is good/bad?" and you do 1, for yes, 2 for no.

Just as a simple little exercise. I have no idea why I want to do it, mostly because of the fact that I feel like making a game isn't contributing to society at all and is kind of useless. This isn't much better, but at least it's something worthwhile to try putting on Github, lol.

What are you guys up to?

I'm not sure that's learning. In a certain sense it is but I don't know that it counts.
A word processor does the same thing more or less when you save a paper. You wouldn't say it's learning.
I literally just woke up like five minutes ago. I don't know what's going on with me. Guess my VN addiction is catching up to me.

Haha wow, it's 12:27PM where I am, EST. Also oh god, Virtual Novel addiction, I know that so well. Some of them are just written so well, I don't even like the erotic ones, I just like them because it's like reading anime, or like reading manga with big HD color pictures, haha.

Also, on the topic of learning, most current word processors actually learn a lot. Like how they predict what words you type a lot and stuff like that, and autocorrect keeps tabs on words you spell wrong a lot and will start auto correcting them after a while, it's really cool. It's all considered machine learning, I think. Even if it's not considered learning, it's still a fun exercise for me, so I like it haha.

I've literally only played erotic ones and I don't even think about them as erotic. Most are either written in such a way that I can view them as a romance novel or they have some sort of moral/personality challenge built in that makes me love them. I have a few non H that I'm supposed to check out but I haven't gotten to them yet.

Auto-correct is cool. Aggravating at times, but cool none the less. Just don't keep going until we get GLADOS or Hal.

Oh cool, I might try one of those erotic ones then. It probably would have a lot more depth than the other ones, haha.

Also, oh god, GLADOS and HAL would be insane. You'd have to program in dynamite that could physically blow it up or something though, hahahahahahaha.

Did you play Katawa Shoujo?If not godo that. Yu Me Miru: A drug That Makes You Dream is pretty good also. The Sagara Family is also a fun one. Wanko To Karasou was cute, weird but cute.

Oh god, Katawa Shoujo pisses me off so much. Played the first like hour of it, hated it because it's made for people with a fetish for disabled girls. I'd rather have a more normal VN that doesn't tailor to some weird fetish or something, lol.

Actually it's not a fetish related at all. It's a deeply moving story that centers around the main character and the girl of your choice overcoming emotional handicaps. The biggest problem with each character has nothing to do with their physical disability, rather and emotional issue that mimics their physical one must be overcome. The game real centers around you not judging others based on physical appearances.

Teach it through a punishment/reward system.

[program] performs [action]
[reward]/[punish]

And it thus learns how to behave.

This method can extend learning further to other areas, such as how to construct sentences if you want to get so advanced.

But it's how the human mind learns, so AI learning will follow a similar pattern.

Ooh, that's a really good idea. Doing that now, thanks for the idea. I'll be posting the source either here or on GitHub when I've finished a fairly large chunk of it.

It would actually be cool to see a program emit random responses/actions and then based on a punishment/reward system learn to emit a pattern.

Hmm, sounds neat. My latest project is just crawling twitter for peoples phone numbers and any other information I can grab. No real reason, just need a project and who wouldn't love millions of phone numbers?

Haha that's awesome. I've just been reading a lot about Machine Learning and AI and Neurology and stuff lately, and it gave me the idea to try to make a program that can learn. I'll post the partial source soon, its barely done at all, but you guys can give some pointers haha.
