People still use MSN?
Ew. The idea of Skype.NET sorta sickens me. The original development platform was Delphi, much much better.
I read an article on it a while back. Not sure if it's credible any, but this image gave me that impression.

There's always the Mono platform too. But I'm not certain on Microsoft's future plans for Skype.
You can bet after paying 8.5bn for Skype, Microsoft aren't going to stop supporting it on other platforms, haha. The only real heavy Microsoft integration I can see is natively integrating it in to some of their flagship devices, such as Windows, Windows Mobile, XBox, etc. (and obviously providing a superior and more seamless experience than software on other devices, which are only really ever going to be apps). I think last I read, there were close to 300 million people using Skype, so no, it's fairly safe to assume they would never restrict it to Windows Microsoft devices.
Yeah, I don't think Mono is nearly mature/stable/robust enough to be the platform for Skype. The fact that it's cross platform though made me think of it as a potential candidate.
Silly rumors
Tsk. The only time I'm online is when I accidentally click the Adium icon in my dock. I've given up accepting people as I have a million bots add me, and every time I sign on I get about 15 simultaneous messages that all say a variation of 'hey baby, how you doing?'. Lol.
