Thats just some of the links talking about how much they get paid. But i also read that Youtube partners are forbidden to talk about how much they get paid by contract so how do you know that they don't get paid much? smd.
They really don't get paid as much as you'd think. It all depends on your audience, luck with direct advertising, and the ad units you use.
It's all a very risky formula. If you use all video pre-roll ads you'll lose your audience. If you don't use them you make fuck all. I'd also be willing to bet that he had direct advertising. An advertiser can choose where their ads are shown for a higher price. With that higher price both Google and the partner make more per click.
It's all about luck. You can have one person with 100k subscribers who could make less money than one with 50k subscribers. Not to mention, it's not a steady income. You can fuck one little thing up. Either with your audience, adsense, or with the Youtube strike system, and you lose everything. Suddenly you go to absolutely no income and you're screwed.
Do youtube videos as a hobby. If you get paid then that's great. However, it's always better to keep a job on the side, even just part time. Job security is something that goes overlooked far too much by our generation.
