Our nation is corrupt because our government is corrupt.
Our government is corrupt because
1. The publics opinion as a nation doesn't matter
2. If it DOES matter, it's just "a number".
--So by this standard, we can have 85% of us disagree that we should have a black president, and although it's a majority of the vote, it still won't fix that because they believe it's totally okay.
3. Information isn't released to the public until it's given the "okay" so we don't know half of what our nation is going through although we deserve to know.

LG is doing that exact same thing.
I don't care if it's a potential "drama" thread, if it involves or impacts all of us as a community, our users have a right to speak their mind.
However, if you make a thread personally flaming another user, it'll be closed. Which is perfectly fine because it's a personal matter.

Our users deserve the right to state their own opinions, and those opinions need to be taken into consideration and fairly thought out instead of immediately jumping to "no" because they don't have as much power, posts, and a reputation like we have.
We need to smarten up.

I say this because I really respect you.
I know you don't treat people unequally. I've seen you treat everybody on the same level.
But I can't count how many times a user has made a post about their issue with the community and it got closed because it either didn't matter or it was a drama thread.

Honestly, why close a thread? Let people bitch and bicker, get their differences out. I was ready to post my own opinion on that matter when I noticed the thread was closed with little discussion.

Drama threads or flaming threads give us a bad name. Drama threads cause members to leave.

Restricting discussion causes members to leave.

That is exactly what this thread is talking about. Locking discussion threads because the mods/admins have made an unchanging decision.

The thread about Granturismo is what got me the most.
It was a simple user stating that he feels another member should be let back in, and why.
It was closed because of potential drama starting.
At least, to the furthest of my knowledge.

Just because we have the power to end a discussion we don't agree with, doesn't mean we should go about it that way

This isn't all over that one thread. It's something I've been consistently seeing since Lemur started getting on everybodys nerves.
I still fail to understand though how it's those who speak the loudest that never get anywhere.
If I'm doing harm to myself by telling you all straight up that this pisses me off and here's why, then we definitely have a problem here on LG.
This place is such a home to me and you are all my absolute closest friends and have been for the last 4 years. I don't want to see it go to shit because a couple annoying users take time out of their day to say ONE real non-annoying opinion that involves us as a community, but as a result of their reputation they're not heard, made to feel stupid, and shut down.

Lets take the Gaiaonline issue also. Why can't we tell these people what's going on with that? The Gaia section was a HUGE thing. It's what this site revolves around. I think everybody really deserves to know fully why we can't have it. I remember a couple people getting shut down and even infracted because they kept asking for the reason why this is happening.
It's way too similar to the way our fucked up government is run, and quite frankly the part that pisses me off the most about it is that the people who really DO know how to run our nation are too busy driving cabs and making Pizzas.

I'm very sorry to rant, I really am, and I'm really not as angry about any of this as I'm coming off to be. I'm just pretty annoyed to the point where I'm seeing everybody outwardly act toward people like Lemur and Granturismo when they actually try to make a complaint against abuse from another user, or something they disagree with. They're still human beings, annoying or not.
You have to deal with drama and accept it's there. Just because you have the tools to stop it in its tracks doesn't mean shit.
We have different privileges, but the same opinion.
And I don't see enough people respecting other people's opinions and completely shutting them down for it simply because they either Disagree or don't want to hear any Drama.
Drama is always going to be everywhere you go with everyone you come in contact with. You have balls, fuckin use them.

Accept that shit happens, and either learn to work with it or work around it.

We live in a republic, just cause we all say democracy doesn't mean don't we live in a republic. We live in a republic to keep the people away from making political decisions because the people are stupid and easily impassioned. Now the public are supposed to have control of local and state government and they are supposed to be able to run for federal office which they should but they don't. They don't because they are lazy and uneducated. Even if the go to college its unlikely they will become civilly educated or politically active in the true sense of it. An begin registered to a political party and blindly voting for the candidate from that party is not political activism or education if you end up only researching those candidates and their issues via biased information.
Honestly I wish I could bar like 85% of America from casting a vote because they shouldn't. They don't know what they're doing and they vote incorrectly. They vote like they shop for a dishwasher, they need to vote for the public good(which is separated by conservative and liberal perspectives but political parties are stupid and need to be dismantled.)
If I had my way we'd go back to the way this country was originally run. Were the state governments elected senator and the college of electors were the wisest people we could find and they just picked the president for us. Public opinion is terribly unreliable and easy to manipulate, one day they want one thing and another the next.
I think we ought to tear up the damned Constitution and make a new one. This one ran its course, we know what the flaws are and we may as well correct them. Recreation of the government restarts the system so we could effectively remove outside influence by restarting and try to write in rules to limit its return. Thomas Jefferson said that he hoped we'd have a revolution every 20-50 years and tear the Constitution up because its just a piece of paper covered with word written by men. He worried we'd we'd raise the founding fathers and the things they did up as if they were gods or hero and never fix the problems and mistakes made in/by both of them.
As to information, yeah we need transparency but we can't have too much of it the government has to hide some stuff for national security reasons but you ought to be able to see inside Fort Knox and the government should deny the existence o Area 51when you can see it.

Example of why I think this: In the future America will be able to do one of two things:
A. we can improve the social safety net and provide welfare, medicare, medicaid, universal health care, ect.
B. we can maintain our position as the most powerful state and leader of the world
The cost of each is the same and we'll only be able to finance one. So either we bow out and let China, India, Brazil, and Russia become the new major players over the next 100 years or we step up and ensure our continued power.
Hard choice, the public will choose social safety net. That's not the best choice for America in the long run because if you increase spending on social programs but lose influence and economic ties in the world you have to cut that spending because you don't have money.

@Aleena: Personal gain isn't that big of a problem. The US governmental system is designed to play people off one another to prevent anyone from getting any where in the political system unless everyone agrees. The mistake we made was allowing too much outside influence and circumvention of rules on minor technicalities.

@Gaia section: It was a legal issue. I don't believe we're allowed to discuss with the general public and only Arti Thomas and Torian really know anything about it.
Also its been said like ten times it was a legal issue so why don't people get over it an move on? There was an announcement(maybe two) to that effect.
Didn't matter, people kept asking, getting the same answers, then more detailed answers, then kept asking and staff got tired of it.

@Turismo thread: I'm of the opinion only Thomas or an Admin really gets to decide if band people get to come back. There was a staff discussion about letting people back in from this point on and it seemed that is was decided against so that's why I've taken my stance. Turismo has been involved in as much shit as any one else with a grudge against us so I'm not inclined to want him back myself. 1st impressions are important, he made a bad one and even got a second chance as Death and he was still a pain and problem.
Lemur only brought up complaints against other people late in the game most of his departure was him stirring up a shit storm against himself and you get what you pay for.
But like I said if an Admin say they can come back, they get too. In the meantime the discussion is pointless. Everyone stands where they stand and no one is going to change their mind if they are already on one side or the other. It only becomes a game to recruit the middle ground people and push for one side or the other.
I wish I could be more help and I wish I could tell you what the rest of the staff is up to or doing but I have not see or heard from them as of late. I'm sure they're caught up in their lives or domain issues for LG.

The "Speaking the loudest" Is reflected in the mentality of the user, Overcompensating for ability, like the guy who drives the biggest car for having the smallest weenie. And if you don't want to see it turn to that, Then be more strict with the rules, or get to banning.

There are two paths LG can go on.

1: LG can ignore trolls and learn to live with them

1: Gaia can accept there are hacking sites.
2: Gaia can go government style and shut them down.

So. Which is LG going to do?

Sounds fair. Your beef seems to be with capitalism and corporate influence/corruption in government.
I support capitalism but I'm against the extent of cooperate involvement in government. That said I'm pro-wealth gap, cause you can be the 1% and I want to be and fuck everyone else cause no one should limit my success or tell me that I have to give my money to any one else unless I choice to give.

The thing is , People that have certain rights over us should be people that don't have any emotions towards people on the forum.
I personally , when i go into a forum and find some drama, I love it cause i get to see how it ended and started, It gives you a reason to read something through and , make you feel that it's somewhere that you can express yourself too and not net bet treated like a regular user that just came to get the goods, Drama threads are good for Forums, They keep it active and show an attachment with the users, Like this guys has the same ideas as me and i could get used to him and have a good conversation with him bla bla bla, people go on the internet cause they are bored or have social problems and/or want to orient themselves . They don't want to be treated as bots .
Fuck i sometimes can't express myself (Autism or something ).
Love you guys , All is for the best. BTW look how people care about this forum and give opinions on how to develop it, and you are the one refusing change and causing loss. ( not addressing to anyone in particular :)

Well we already know which way gaia went, they went for not caring and move on , or else they would have shut them down , they would have Shut US down since we are a bigger problem than people getting banned or scammed.

Doesn't mean I'll agree or that I won't just stand by my decision but I try to be transparent.

Then Lemur pmed Thomas some more about A & B and then got a chance to get his way but no one had any love for him then and he banned because we were all done with him. Honestly you lot banned Lemur.
