Don't buy the multicolor LED panel from Thinkgeek!

Ok, I purchased this thing during Christmas. I was happy with my purchase, and have been displaying it proudly on my desk since. It looks amazing, but something curious happened a little while ago. I smelled a burning smell, it didn't take long to figure out where it was coming from. I unplugged it and looked at the back of the light, sure enough the plastic was warped and burned. It had to be around 60-100c. So, being the curious person I am I decided to take it apart to see what I'd find. I was hoping it'd be just one bad light and I could just remove it then plug the panel back in. Sure enough, as soon as I got the back panel off I was greeted by the smell of led paint! I had to get a fan in my room it was so strong. Keep in mind this was a few hrs after I unplugged it. After I got over the smell I noticed that the lights are attached to cardboard! It is a huge no no to put exposed wiring let alone lights on cardboard. After that, I noticed that there where holes burned through the metallic film on the cardboard! It's a wonder it didn't burst into flames. Anyways, just though I'd give you guys the heads up and save you the cash. I took pictures of what I found, you can find them below.

Also, if we're giving out warnings, don't accept DBI columbia house's deal of 3 dvds for one dollar, they will steal over 100 bucks and refuse to cancel your account.

Oh damn, unlucky there Thomas, it looks like it was a nice panel before the meltdown. Shame on Thinkgeek for selling such a low quality product, hope you didn't pay too much for it.

I paid $30 :\. The darn thing prob cost a few cents to a dollar to make.

I bought the shirt with the speaker from them, stopped working after two months.

I had the wifi t-shirt. Didn't even pick any wifi signals. it just kept flickering.

A lot of Think Geek's stuff is more gimmicky than with any practicality. Trying to profit off of geeks with low quality designs, I have no idea how they're still afloat. Most of my geek swag comes from newegg. I prefer to see the item reviews made by real customers before I even throw a dollar their way.

Yea, I think I'll be sticking with Newegg and Vat19 from now on. However, the Halo messenger bag I bought from there has lasted about 4 years.

Aye, I used to love browsing ThinkGeek for their awesome room fillers, but after a few purchases turned out to be not worth the money, I moved on to greener pastures. There's no doubt that some of the items posted there are good, it's just you need to have a bit of luck to pick out what's worth the dime and what isn't.

Just waiting on my second SSD to arrive to I can ram it in my computer C: I freaking love how fast my rig is now.

While we're at it, Don't eat at McDonalds.
They're bad for you

Mcdonalds also makes everything else bigger, and makes you generally less healthy. there are other alternatives to giving yourself a larger ass other than gorging out and unhealthy food. God, how did we get to having this conversation?

When I was running my convention, they sent us a bunch of crap to give out for prize support.

It was all so broken we couldn't even give it out. :/
