This is my first ever effect I've made. Take it easy on me please this is my first ever. So, can you tell me how I did.

it looks wonderful. perhaps some more detail on the planet, but other than that the effect itself is spot on. Good job.

perhaps to make it a complete picture, add a few starts behind the planet

Not quite sure what you need actually, looks pretty good.
maybe if the image was a bit "crisper".

I think glow should look smoother

it looks like a testicle but good work better then chrischin.

Also maybe a distant planet...... Or some Nebulas. Maybe a couple asteroids if possible.

This looks pretty good! What did you use, photoshop, then wind tool to get the effect on the splitting? I would consider adding a star field in the background and maybe like a nebulous ring around it sort of like the force wave you see in pictures of large blasts.
