Line In and Mic Ports not working?

The speakers are fine and the mic that is hooked up via internal connections is fine but my line in and mic ports have mysteriously stopped working.
Any thought?
I've tried a few searches and fiddled with configurations but turned up nothing.

Yeah, that'd be good if I could get it to tell me what the damned things are. I just get "Audio Device" and try updating through the windows function but yeah...that likes to tell me I'm up to date and the device is working.
