Steal and Change Icons


I'm going to keep this simple and to the point for the readers. Using a tool called Resource Hacker i'll show you how to steal icons from programs and to change the icon on programs.

How to Steal Icons
(From Applications/programs/exe's/images/folders ect)

Open up Resource Hacker ( ico.exe )
File
Open
Browse to the application you wish to steal the icon from and click OPEN.
Expand the Icon column and the columns within to reveal a gear.
Click on the gear or browse through the gears untill on the right it displays the icon.
There may be tiny icons and large ones, make sure you pick the one you wish to use.
Select the gear of the icon you wish to steal
Select ACTION in the menu
Select "Save [Icon : x : x] ... - (x is a variable, the number within the brackets varies on the icon)
Save the icon to a folder or your desktop.

Now you have stolen the icon from a program


How to Change the Icon
(of Applications/programs/exe's/images/folders ect)

Open up Resource Hacker ( ico.exe )
File
Open
Browse to the application you wish to change the icon of and click open.
In the menu select Action> Replace Icon
Select " Open File with new icon "
Browse to the new icon you wish to apply and select it
In the bottom right corner select "Replace"
Select File then Save
Close the program and your Icon is now applied.
