I come from an English family (though I've never been there myself) so I grew up watching a lot of British Television, and to be quite honest I love it a million times more than American television.
The comedy, the Wit, even the drama is intense.
Check out a few of these titles, they happen to be my favorites.

British tv is generally better than US television. It's of a better quality because it's written to be more intellectual. Plus British actors actually can act. They take their profession seriously and study hard and practice endlessly.

British tv when remade for the American market is purposefully dumbed down in content and dialogue is removed to make it more appealing to the Us audience. I'm not saying that all British tv shows are amazing. I'm saying their shit is still smarter than are shit. For me that makes it better.Quote:

You can't compare shows that are to be taken seriously, with shows that aren't. Mighty Boosh and Tim and Eric are basically the same kind of thing and you would compare them as a UK vs US kind of thing. You wouldn't compare House to Mighty Boosh.Quote:

Sidenote : Dead Like Me was freaking awesome I watched that and Eureka when I was in high school. You know, back when Sci Fi was spelled right and had good shows.
Actually Sci Fi is an excellent example, to get more viewership Sci Fi rebranded and started showing garbage to make more money. Granted Sci Fi still made terrible movies and showed them even then but you had great shows on that ultimately didn't appeal to the larger US market so you see them dumped in favor of Robot Combat League or Ghost Hunters or whatever the game show in the dark is. Now Sci Fi and other networks still manage to have a good show here or there but I think I've made my point.
As far as American TV goes, I got the biggest kick out of Psych, Lie to Me and Leverage the most

I like to compare the British (original) version of Being Human VS the American version. The american version by its self is ok, but if you watched the british version you realize that the US fucked the plot all up. I've also noticed that Americans have gotten real lazy with props. They would rather computer generate whole characters (like ghosts, werewolves, exd.) then physically make an item/scenery/costume.
I think that American remakes of British shows don't aim to trace the original plot, it's not like they fucked it up, but decided to go in another direction.Quote:

I prefer Canadian television shows the most. Flashpoint, Rookie Blue, and Cracked for example. America makes a few great series also though. White Collar, Hawaii 5-0, Burn Notice, and Psych for example. As for British shows, I like Sherlock. I have been wanting to watch Luther, but never got into doing that. Maybe soon.
