The first topic posted on LG 2.0, I’m kind of at a loss for words. I guess I should repost what was posted on the main page for those who haven’t already read it. If you have, scroll down.
Explanation
I think the members of Logicalgamers are owed an explanation. As you are no doubt aware, the site has been down (again) for the past few weeks. This is more or less the result of our last host's stupidity and our own misfortune. We had up-to-date database backups on three separate locations (my local hard drive and two servers controlled by host). In a period of 48 hours, my computer went mental, forcing a reformat, and our host bungled up a relatively routine server transfer (which we had received no notification for, else I would have made precautionary arrangements). The result? We're left with nothing. No posts, users, programs, guides, anything.
After trying everything to get the site back up, I wondered whether or not we should start over or simply throw in the towel. I know a lot of members and staff have lost interest and if we were to attempt to rebuild it would be a long and arduous road. After sitting on it for over a week, I realised I've still got the drive and motivation to see the site succeed.
That means we are completely starting over. There will be no users automatically promoted to staff, no users with large amounts of gold and no users with an intimidating post count: it's a level playing field. New staff will be chosen after the first couple of weeks from promising members, and it will be an ongoing process for the months to come. More of that later.
The last year has not been one of the best for the site. We've probably been down at least half of that time! We're restructuring the site entirely so this is not likely to occur again. We know that if we want to succeed then downtime is not an option. To make it up to our members, we will be giving away hundreds of dollars worth of prizes in the first month to the individuals that are the most active and helpful.
Changes
So we’re starting from scratch, you all know that. I don’t want to make this one extremely long-winded post. Better it be gradual, which is why I’m just going to raise some of the more important issues.
Underground changes
The underground system has changed dramatically. From now on, no Gaiaonline hacks may be posted publicly. Reason? We’ve got too much heat on us at the moment, need to wait for things to calm down a little. Therefore we have restricted Underground to the following:
- Bronze Underground: automatically promoted after 50 posts. This is where the basic hacks will be posted.
- Silver Underground: automatically promoted after 500 posts. This is where the decent programs will be posted.
- Gold Underground: hand picked, minimum of 1,000 posts. This is the top level below staff. The best programs will be posted here.
Auction House
Thanks to Sk8er, we have now introduced a new auction house. You can check it out here. I’ll post a sticky on how to properly use it soon. Please not, that this feature is still under construction - we are still adding features and fixing features that don't work. If you find a bug, please report it.
Gaia Lucky Dip
Again, thanks to Sk8er we’ve reintroduced the lucky dip. Feel free to add and buy accounts. We’ve added a new feature to ensure that it’s a little more secure than last time.
Shop store
The store is currently down, but you can still earn gold. I’ll be reopening the store shortly. For now, earn 200gold for each new post and 500gold for each new thread.
